Tools and Hardware Reviews of DeLonghi TRN0812T Portable Oil-Filled Radiator with Programmable Timer

Customer Review: Great little heater at the right price!
Summary: 5 Stars

We did alot of research into the different types and brands of oil filled heaters before we chose this one. Most of those we found were uninspiring in looks and features, and they were expensive to boot! They also had the downfall of radiating heat from all sides, something which makes placement of this type of heater sometimes difficult. When we found this little heater on Amazon, we knew we had finally found the answer to our heater dilemma! It is very small, but that's exactly what we needed for our spot. It doesn't act small, however! It heats the entire room with no problem (a bedroom of approx 200sf) even on the lowest setting. It did smell the first night, but we've had no problem with an odor since. What clinched our decision to get this model versus all the other models out there had to do with its vertical chimneys, which direct the heat up rather than out the sides. It really works! And I must say, Amazon shipped it to us super fast..we are very pleased with both the product and with Amazon!

Customer Review: Great little radiator
Summary: 5 Stars

This heater works wonderfully, is a great compact size, and has some great features (three different power levels, a thermostat, and a timer).

I use it in my 15x15 Master bedroom, which is a cold-spot in my house. The timer feature is great! I just set it to come on about an hour before bedtime, and by bedtime it is warm and toasty. Then I turn down the power to medium and set the thermostat to maintain the temperature. The first few nights is got so hot that we had to throw off the covers and open the door, then I got the temperature down to a science and it has been wonderful. It is set to automatically turn off about a half hour after we get up.

The surface gets hot enough to give you a good burn so be careful not to touch. It also took several uses before the smelly off-gassing stopped,. Plug it in and turn it on and let it run in a garage or well-ventilated basement the first few uses. Once it stops stinking, it is a great little heater.

Customer Review: Only heat source we use in the winter
Summary: 5 Stars

We have three of them (not this same model but the same brand) in our three bedroom house 1700 sq ft. LOVE them. Have one in each bedroom and one in the living area. We hate the dry air that comes from our central unit, it makes are sinuses very dry and don't like the cost of gas either. The heat slowly fills the room without a blower, very quiet. We saved 500 dollars last winter and never turned on the furnace. I wondered if it was going to be cost efficient since they do run off of electricity but since the oil inside stays hot the radiator is not "running" all the time while using the thermostat. You do need to plug them in before needing heat since there is no blowers and requires some time to get warm. Just can't say anything bad about them at all. You do need to let them heat up for the first time outside or in a garage. They are kind of stinky at first until the odor burns off.
Another plus, they are a great cat warmer :)

Customer Review: FANTASTIC!!
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter and I sleep in the basement (a living room, bedroom, bathroom setup) of my mother's house while I go to school. In the winter we freeze down there - and with the cost of electricity my mother is just not willing to turn up the thermostat. We were looking for an affordable alternative that wouldn't cost her loads on her electric bill. Enter the DeLonghi heater. This thing has been FABULOUS. If you want to get almost uncomfortably warm - close the door... you'll roast. With the door cracked and this puppy on high - we are very toasty in our chilly basement. Sometimes I move it out to the living room during the day. Since that room is open to the stairs it doesn't do as well there - but it definitely warms the room. I have had NO smells or problems or yellowing. I bought a refurbished unit that had a quarter sized paint chip - but who cares! This winter is the second winter in a row that we've had it. No problems!

Customer Review: Exactly what I bought
Summary: 5 Stars

I live in the cold, shady part of our apartment building, and our room was very old with little to none insulation. Trying to get out of the bed in the morning is hard enough already, but with a biting chill in the air made it next to impossible. Once I got through the day of an odd smell, which it's supposed to, this radiator worked like a charm, with an easy to figure out timer that made it all worthwhile.

I will say the manual is a little hard to read, with a few "lost-in-translations", and it's tough to figure out exactly the effect of the "Power Economizer", but it was never an issue. Plus the heating levels are arbitrarily labeled "1-6", instead of degrees. After a week, I found out I like 4.

Summary:
Other than a few issues on the manual and thermostat use, this comes highly recommended.
