Customer Review: Great drill -wall mountable Summary: 5 Stars
I love this drill. Best deal for a lithium ion small drill. period
Customer Review: Nice Aid for Lazy Handymen and Women Summary: 4 Stars
This will be a quick review. Bought this on sale for $20 here on Amazon. Liked the idea it has a Lithium Ion battery instead of NiMH or NiCad. It comes with more than a dozen bits, and a nice case. Small, easy to handle, and comfortable to hold, it's perfect for light duty jobs. Don't expect it to replace a drill or sink long screws into hardwood, but if you need to hang stuff, save time turning those long machine screws, or just be lazy instead of using a screwdriver, this guy does the trick. A tad more power would be nice, but this driver is far from useless.
Maybe it's time to toss my 30 year old Black & Decker, that long since lost its ability to hold a charge.
I am very pleased with this purchase
UPDATE:
I didn't realize I'd reviewed this, and wrote another review. Here's the second review, since I can't post 2, and it would be a shame to have wasted 10 minutes writing it:
I've owned one for a year and a half and it's a great driver. Comes with a good assortment of bits and the case clips to your belt for easy access up on a ladder.
The only drawback is the base has to be used to charge it so if you have more than a charge worth of work to do, you need to bring the base with you. Battery is not replaceable (at least not easily. I haven't tried).
I couldn't say that Lithium Ion makes it more powerful, but it does have the advantage of not having the memory effect of NiCad or NiMH. So you can just drop it in the charger when you're finished a job.
Lack of replaceable battery, and lack of socket to plug in charger loses it one star. I got mine for $20 on a Lightning Deal. Current Lightning Deal is $27. So Don't go paying $35. Be patient.
Very happy with this purchase.
Customer Review: Good for light tasks, plenty of bits Summary: 4 Stars
This is a nicely designed lightweight power tool, but don't plan on doing any heavy drilling with it. On the plus side, it's quite small and easy to handle, has a convenient charging dock, and a carrying case that holds a wide range of drill and screwdriver bits. Each bit fits in a little elastic loop in the case. The bits have a hex base that slips into the magnetic holder on the drill, so no chuck is needed to tighten/loosen them. That saves time when changing bits, but the downside of this is that it's not easy to back out a drill bit from the hole you've just drilled without it coming out of the bit holder.
The minus side: At 3.6V, you don't get much power, the RPMs are slow, and there's no variable speed. The button for changing the rotation is a little too easy to push, and because it's right on the grip (instead of on top where many other drills locate it), I found myself inadvertently changing directions when I didn't intend to. The largest drill bit in the provided set is only 1/8", so I bought a hex-base set at Walmart for a few bucks that filled in the 3/16" and 1/4" sizes.
All in all, it's a worthwhile tool to have for small jobs, and compact enough to slip in your pants pocket. If you have a lot of drilling and driving to do (is that illegal?), go for a heavier-duty model, but this one fits the bill for lots of occasional light tasks.
Customer Review: A SUGGESTION TO MAKE IT BETTER Summary: 4 Stars
I've had this drill for about a month and it does everything it is supposed to do.
I am very happy with it !
There's one big flaw that the designers have missed. The light comes on at the same time that the drill stars to run, so if you are working in a dim place and you're trying to start a screw, it makes it very dificult to put the screw in the pre-drill hole.
The light should come on with the slightest touch of the trigger BEFORE the drill starts. My Skill drill does that and the light becomes a life saver then.
So, Denali designers, go back to the drawing board and add this feature, that way you'll be at par with your competition.
That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.
