Description of Digiview RC61ELW Atomic Travel ClockDigiview RC61ELW Atomic Travel Clock The Digiview RC61ELW Atomic Travel Alarm Clock is a radio-controlled digital alarm clock designed especially for travelers, but you'll find that this inexpensive atomic clock is also ideal for use on a nightstand or a crowded desk. Although the RC61ELW is pocket-sized, it features a large display and an auto-off backlight for clear viewing day or night. This compact, remarkably accurate clock is loaded with dual snooze alarms, and it even features a calendar and indoor temperature display. Digiview didn't scrimp on style -- this clock has a semi-metallic silver-toned molded case that looks good in any decor. In timekeeping mode, the clock's two-line LCD panel shows the time, month, date, weekday, and indoor temperature. The dual alarms also feature a programmable snooze interval so you can wake up just how you prefer. The hinged front cover protects the LCD display during travel, and then pivots open to serve as a stand. Designed for placement on a nightstand, table, or desktop, this compact clock works on the road, at home, or in the office, and it is powered by a single AAA battery (not included). The RC61ELW is amazingly accurate. It calibrates itself to the world's most accurate clock every night by receiving WWVB 60kHZ radio transmissions. These transmissions contain time information from the U.S. atomic clock source operated by the U.S. Commerce Department. The time can be displayed in 12-hour or 24-hour format, the month and date are displayed digitally in that order, and the weekday is displayed as a two-letter abbreviation in English, Spanish or French. Successful reception of the time-sychronization radio signal and signal quality are indicated by a radio tower and waves icon just above the clock's seconds display. After synchronization occurs, you can select your continental U.S. time zone, and a U.S. map icon in the upper line of the display indicates the selected time zone. This clock automatically also adjusts for Daylight Saving Time. Almost anyone who travels can use and appreciate the Digiview RC61ELW. It's small enough to fit in a pocket or purse. And because the clock can be manually set, you can use it outside of WWVB range, in which case it functions as a highly accurate digital quartz clock. This economical atomic travel alarm clock makes a thoughtful and practical gift.
Tools and Hardware Reviews of Digiview RC61ELW Atomic Travel ClockCustomer Review: Perfect for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my wife as a stocking stuffer, so we've only had it a few days, but so far we think it's perfect - especially given how cheap it is!
The only flaw we've found is that when the backlight is on, the unit emits a soft, high-pitched hum - but unless it's right next to your ear it's practically impossible to detect.
Neither she nor I has any trouble reading the display at night, with the backlight on (you click the large button on top to turn the backlight on). We love that it has two alarms, and that you can independently configure the snooze timeout for each one. We also love that it synchronizes with the atomic clock in Colorado every night, which ensures that the time is always accurate.
I'll probably buy another one for myself after being so impressed with hers!
