Customer Review: Great machine for a good value

Like most people, I researched product before making a decision. I even went to Wal-Mart to purchase another when mine died. Luckily they were out of stock on the upright I chose so I went online. I have used upright units until now and none ever swept bare floors thoroughly. This model had good reviews and seemed to have most of my requirements. So I decided to purchase through Amazon and take advantage of the free-shipping and no hassle return (just in case).
Well if you have pets, bare floors or stairs this is one hard working unit! I run an 'out of pocket' shelter dog rescue from my home so pet hair and bare floors are the norm. It is not unusual to sweep twice each day.
I am absolutely thrilled with this vacuum! It is:
*Lightweight.
*Very good suction
*Bare floor cleaning is remarkable. It has good corner and edge cleaning. Unlike an upright, the air exhaust is in the rear of the canister. Have you ever hit a dust bunny with the exhaust air from an upright? It can be a real challenge, not to mention exhausting, catching it before the exhaust blows it under a chair or end table. Usually an area you just swept!
*Controls are located on the handle (an awesome feature) that includes on/off & power settings at your fingertips. No more fumbling for the foot release pedal only to find you have turned it off instead.
*Much quieter than an up-right.
*Easy empty canister with a protected filter:
this keeps the dirt from collecting on the filter as rapidly. Although the canister is not quite as large as an upright, it is not an effort to empty or remove. Keeping it this size also helps keep the unit light weight.
*Works well on low pile carpet throw rugs.
The fingertip power settings enable sweeping without the suction lifting the rug off the floor. No more playing 'TWISTER' with the vacuum and the rug! (I am getting too old to keep my feet on the corners of the rug while using both hands to control the vacuum.)
*Retractable cord. Yes it is only 20ft but it is R E T R A C T A B L E Yippee!! If I had back all the time I have spent unwrapping and rewrapping a vacuum cord...geeze I could sleep an extra hour for a few days. In my two story home, I have only needed to unplug and replug one extra time on each floor. One side note though, use your foot to retract the cord and only a little at a time until you become accustomed to the speed with which it retracts. The first couple times (yes couple, I forgot about the first time) it retracted so quickly that the plug snapped my hand. It was so fast it probably left a contrail but my vision was blurred with pain.
I give it a two thumbs up :))
