I'm a Dirt Devil fan from way back. I have the hand vac, too, so when I saw this new product I snapped it up. It works well and is quite handy. Taking the dirt cup off is tricky -- I pressed the button and the cup plus all the accumulated sweepings from its maiden voyage went FLYING onto the floor. Trying to catch the mess, I accidentally turned the machine on. It was like a Three Stooges skit.
The only thing I'd say is that anyone buying a product like this (assuming you like it and intend to keep it for several years) is to buy the accessories for it while you can. If the model is discontinued or the machine doesn't sell well, then you are out of luck if you need to find accessories.

This has got to be the best invention yet!!! I absolutely love this broom vac. I was constantly in a losing battle with my broom on the hardwood floors and this has finely won the battle. It will actually pick up everything. It's great for my wood stairs also. Anyone with a bad back can thank dirt devil too. You no longer have to bend over and fight to get every little dirt speck on the dust pan. I waved bye bye to my broom and dust pan forever!!!! In the long run the $50.00 is worth it. Also, I went to my local walmart to buy and the only place around wisconsin so far you could buy it at is target or online.Customer Review: Its better than using a broom and vacuum

All and all, I'm happy with the purchase. However, I would have liked it to pick up stuff a little easier. As it is, you basically have to sweep it up into a pile and circle the handyvac around the pile to pick up everything--doesn't really save any time in sweeping. It does well on carpets and floors...better than having to use a vacuum and broom seperately. The vacuum's battery has enough charge for two solid uses which is a plus. I have THREE cocker spaniels and the hair shows up fast on my wood floor and along the baseboards.Pet hair is fine and hard to sweep up with a regular broom because it flies, this broom finds it and captures it. Easy to use and doesn't scratch the floor. It does scare the dogs but it keeps them out of my way.
Only improvement would be a little more suction. Bought one for my sister.

I've had the Dirt Devil broom for a year and love it. I have a hardwood floor in the kitchen and the broom makes it easy to pick up crumbs and dry food spills. I also love the fact that I don't have to deal with a dustpan and the residue that remains after using it. We've been so pleased that we bought a second one for our vacation home.
