I LOVE mine! No prob at all with instructions; all one need do is look at the gadget, see the square part shaped like the battery. Those are the screws to remove. The other screws are on the round part which is obviously not square shaped like a 9v battery and not large enough to fit one. That was not a problem for me. It's a bit overly large. That is a benefit. A possible attacker cannot miss the fact you are wearing some sort of device. Attackers do not like devices, especially if they have no idea what purpose it serves. They are onto security devices and try to steer clear of them. I LIKE that it can be clearly seen. The orange (alarm) button is fast and easy access. I call it "The Orange Devil". Feeling threatened? Hit The Orange Devil. Hell WILL break loose. More on that below.
It is so lightweight it's no bother. The lights aren't flares, but they do work decently enough. Now.. the part I LOVE: The Orange Devil emits THE absolute MOST horrifying loud AND shrill ear-violating sound I have ever experienced. I accidentally hit the buttom while installing the battery. The abrubt, loud, high-pitched scream almost peeled my skin back, not to mention the temporary/partial deafness I experienced for 2 hours after scaring the hell out of myself. The manual IS reliable and warns "piercing, high-pitched alarm sound may injure one's hearing if in close proximity to the ears". Great! Small price to pay to prevent an attack. As if the volume alone is not loud enough to scare satan to pray, the chillingly shrill, high pitched frequency is equally (if not moreso) a FANTASTIC, highly effective deterrent as the volume. There are loud sounds, and there are loud HORRIBLE NOISES... like THIS thing. Trust me, no one BUT a good person will come anywhere near you with this thing in emergency screech mode. It will definitely violate not only the ears, it will assault a perpetrator's total being. I love it BECAUSE it IS so awful. It's a GREAT security piece for cheap! Vicious!
