Customer Review: It's a cheap piece of equipment.....and it works just fine!

I'll be brief. This is a bargain-basement item. But it actually works! It only has 2 settings (Low & High) but if you put it on Low, it can run overnight. If you put it on High, it will empty out after only 4 hours but you will be living in a tropical jungle until then.
And it hasn't broken yet, either. As long as you do a DEEP cleaning once a month, it will keep working and you will be fine. The cleaning will take a good 30 minutes to do but....it costs you nothing! YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY ANY SPECIALIZED CLEANING MATERIALS OR FILTERS! That is tremendous, since most filters and materials could end up costing more than the humidifier itself after only the first year. All you need is bleach, vinegar, water, scrubbing sponge and some elbow grease. Everybody already has these items in their kitchen.
It's a good purchase in this difficult economy.

I have used this particular humidifier in the past and have been very pleased. I tried a cool mist humidifier and wasn't satisfied with the results. They are way too noisy and do not really put enough moisture in the air. I bought 2 of the warm mist humidifiers and now use them to keep the humidity level up in my condo.
The down side is that you have to keep filling the canister, but that's only because it's so efficient at producing humidity. I have learned from owning these types of humidifiers that regular maintenance is a must. If you pour a little lime and calcium remover in the reservoir about once every 2 weeks and let it soak it's very easy to keep clean.

THIS Duracraft DWM250 2-1/2-Gallon Warm Mist Humidifier WORKS AS BETTER THAN MANY OTHERS I HAVE USED IN THE PAST. EASY TO REFILL AND STARTS TO HUMIDIFY WARM MOIST VAPORS IN 5 MINUTES. I HAVE SINCE PURCHASED 2 MORE. IT WILL GO THROUGH ITS CONTAINER OF WATER IN ABOUT 10 HOURS ON HIGH SETTING. ALSO HAS AUTO SHUT OFF WHEN EMPTY. I PURCHASED THESE AFTER MY DOCTOR ADVISED ME TOO FOR MY YOUNG DAUGHTER TO USE IN WINTER. I ALSO LOOKED AT HONEYWELL, BUT AFTER READING REVIEWS I DECIDED TO GET THIS ONE.

I have been looking for a warm air purifier for some time (prefer warm air for safety reasons (avoids mould and airborn particles)). Warm air models range to well over $100. I decided to try this unit because it is cheap and has a large water tank.
I would highly recommend this unit for the price. It has two steam settings (high and low). It has an aromatherapy dispenser. It is easy to refill. It works really well actually.
Some previous posts have indicated that the unit may not last for years and years because of its construction. True, it is not built like a tank. However, for its price I think you would struggle to do better.

Like other reviewers, I haven't had good luck with humidifiers. I've bought the mist type which leaves white dust all over the place and I've bought the ones with noisy fans. I'm a light sleeper and this one is super quiet except for the occasional gurgle but like others mentioned, it's kinda soothing. Also, the humidity output is really great. Another reviewer used the word "tropical" to mention how her bedroom felt after using this product and I'll agree. My humidity went from 39% to 50% by using this in my bedroom. Of course for the price and size of this unit, it may not make a huge difference for the entire house but it really works great for one room.
