Using a fire resistant metal flex hose and a specially designed filtering system for ash, the Cheetah II Ash Vac solves the problem of removing ash from wood burning stoves and fireplaces safely. A special snap spring assembly allows for cleaning the secondary filter without taking off the lid. Please note, this unit is designed to pick up ashes once they have cooled. Customer Review: Works great!! Don't know what I did w/out it!

After blowing up two vacuum bags in my central vac trying to clean my new pellet stove (and filling my laundry room with soot both times, you think I would learn) I purchased this item. Assembly was quick, needed an extra hand to get the second filter on but besides that, I did all the assembly myself in under 10 minutes.
On to the first cleaning with this vac. Okay, it's loud but to me that is not a real issue, most vacs are loud and really I only use this for about 10 minutes if that a week during the stove cleaning. On to it's cleaning abilities! I was very pleased, I have had no clogs to date, it pulls up everything I place it on and with the 'filter knocker' I have had no problems there either. I hit the filter knock feature everytime I turn it off while cleaning, works good for me. The hose is rather stiff, I think mine is made worse by being in the cold garage for storage. I usually bring it in the house about a 1/2 hr before I start to clean, that usually loosens it up quite a bit.
So far I am totally pleased with the vac. If I had to pick one drawback, it is emptying the vac. Pulling the top off to empty is something I would recommend you do outdoors. A cloud of ash came from mine and I quickly replaced the lid and vacuumed the floor! The filters have ash on them (loose) so it is hard to put the top down somewhere clean to empty the can. I would recommend two people and do it as I said, outdoors.
Construction quality is great, the can is metal as is the handle. The hose and end are well built too.
I have only used mine on my new pellet stove and would highly recommend it for such use.
