Tools and Hardware Reviews of Dustless Technologies MU405 Cougar Ash Vacuum, BlackCustomer Review: Get your now! Summary: 5 Stars
I read many reviews before deciding to purchase this vacuum. It does a fine job and there are not many vendors that sell ash vacuums. Amazon has the best price and fastest delivery. The vacuum does what it is intended to do. I have used it several times on my new pellet stove because the more you vacuum your stove the better it will perform. I was wondering how to get around vacuuming without picking up the loose pellets that are always there. This is what you can do and it works great. Find a wire mess that is not too fine but yet small enought to not let the pellets through. Take the screen and shape it to fit the back end of the metal rod that is used for picking up the ash. Your can form it and push it in place. When you vacuum the pellets fill the black metal tube, without falling into the vacuum, you can shut it off and tape the metal tube and the pellets will come out and you can put them back into the hopper. Its a great way to save the pellets and not have to fill the vacuum with them, why let them go to waste.
Customer Review: Great ash vacuum Summary: 5 Stars
I burn about 12 cords of wood each season. This is an excellent product IF USED PROPERLY. I saw some complain about it getting clogged and does not work. Well this is NOT a vacuum up anything in the stove unit. I use it to help control dust and ash in the room. I scoop up the ash and place it in a bucket with a lid that flips up and I place the nozzle inside to help keep the dust and any smoke from getting out. Once I have all the big pieces I fine clean in the stove and around to clean up any mess. There is no other way to do this and my wife is very sensitive to dust and since I started to use the couger she notices the reduced dust in the air and this is a large room and we still had a lot of dust overall but no more. So for those that find an issue with the unit read how to use this properly and this is not a cure all but another tool to add to help keep the fireplace clean. It was worth every penny. I have no complaints about this unit.
Customer Review: Best (and only) warm ash vacuum out there Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned a Cougar ash vacuum for several years now and it has been wonderful. I keep my fireplace burning 24 hours a day when it gets cold out and had to find some way to remove the ashes from a still burning fire.
Yes, if you just stick the nozzle into a bunch of ashes it will clog, but that is because of the fine quality of ash, not the vacuum's fault. Following the instructions to hold the nozzle against the brick and move in small circles works great. I have to wear gloves as the nozzle does get hot but I'm able to keep it cleaned by doing this every morning prior to adding more wood. It takes about 3-4 minutes for me to do this.
If you accidentally pick up embers you just need to make sure they don't get stuck in the hose and have moved to the canister before shutting it off. And make sure to dump before it gets completely full.
I highly recommend this vacuum.
Customer Review: Wonderful Vacuum for cleaning pellet stoves! Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased an ash vacuum cleaner for our pellet stove on the advice of a friend. He mentioned that he used a Loveless Ash vacuum and was well pleased. So we decided to shop online and found a good deal on one. We were happy with the order process, pricing and the speediness of the delivery, but none of that could compare to our overall pleasure for the product itself.
This thing works wonders, was quick to put together and great on function. I'd recommend this product to anyone that needs to vacuum up ash and as not tried it. No conventional vacuum can do what this can - I originally tried using one and made a major dust storm in the house! No fun cleaning that one up! With this Loveless vacuum, there is no dust in the air, no concern about slightly hot "coals" with the metal hose, so no worries at all.
Great product!
Customer Review: No dust cloud. Summary: 5 Stars
For years I have used my shop vacs to clean a wood stove and chimney; and recently my pellet stove, only to have my home fill with large, ominous clouds of soot, floating and landing through out my house. When I tried to clean my pellet stove, I acquired an explosion at and on the couch. Wives are probably all the same in that this is...unexciting.
Who cares that this vacuum is loud, it doesn't exhaust weeks of silt all over the house.
Who cares that this vacuum can't inhale a bag of marble chip size/weight coals (use a shovel), it doesn't exhaust weeks of silt all over the house.
Who cares that it is 200+ bucks, it doesn't exhaust weeks of silt all over the house.
This vacuum sucks!
