I owned the Dyson DC5 when I lived in the uk but when I moved to California I only had carpet in two rooms and so opted for a cheaper vacuum cleaner. After 3 years of having to dust the house on a daily basis I decided enough was enough and bought the DC21. It is great..better than the DC5 and just in a total different league to what I had. Now I vacuum everything, piano, computers, ceilings and I don't have to do any dusting again for about two weeks..it's amazing. I have realied that I have just been re-distributing the dust for the past three years. I love this vacumn cleaner. It is small and neat. I have found the cable, although on the short side, it reaches everywhere I just have to change the sockets more regularly. The dusting tools are great. The only downside I have found so far is the fact that it is difficult to dust at mid height level due to the stiff hose at the top end. That is a minor issue though so I'm leaving it at 5 stars. Love it, love it, love it. You won't believe the amount of stuff that comes up from your carpets.Customer Review: Sounds sick, but I actually enjoyed vacuuming today

I have to agree with whoever called the Dyson 21's power like a black hole. I, too, vacuumed my recently cleaned home, and collected 4 times as much dust and fur than I ever got with the previous vacuum. I'm in a small RV, which has cloth walls and ceiling as well, and the accessories with this vacuum will help keep the Himalayan cat fur off of everything.
I was surprised at how quietly it runs.
My RV is quite small, so storing this unit is a challenge. I didn't wrap the hose around and hang the carpet tool. Things are tucked away here and there. Since the parts are easy to reattach, this isn't a problem.
I was pleased to see that the wand doesn't have to be extended to use the accessories.
The dirt container was very easy and clean to empty.
I've used this vacuum only once, since it arrived just today. Hope it continues to do such a good job for years. I'm looking forward to doing a little more cleaning tomorrow. (I know - get a life.)

After spending a few months looking around for a new vacuum, the decision fell on the Dyson DC21. It is amazing!
I spend some time looking at the other products listed on [...] and although they like the Hoover and others, I could not justify buying anything else than the Dyson based on total cost of ownership. Compared to others and reading the reviews this was simply the one that had the least problems over time.
Pros:
hardwood and carpet is just second to none
the nice easy wrap up makes it easy to store
Long Warrenty and according to other reviews no issues to mention
Easy to empty
Cons:
The single problem i have is the final hook for the hose when wrapped up. it slips out easily and you have to put it back in. Hard to explain but rolled up around the vacuum it does not hold tight at the very last hook.
One very happy customer and found a great price here at Amazon.

I've been a Kenmore canister lover since the mid 1970's. My first one lasted 15 years which is why I kept buying them. Over the years, they seem to last less and less time. I just bought one last week and after 1 spin around the house, I decided to take it back. I wasn't planning on a Dyson, nor was I planning to spend $500 but after the demonstration and hearing the 5 year warranty, I took it home. WOW!!! I've NEVER had a vaccum that works this well. It's easy to manuever, fits under low clearance, quiet, and best of all, picked up my white cats fur in one swoop. OK, so $500 is a bit of cash for a vacuum, but I spent $350 on the Kenmore. For another $150.... I get to enjoy vacuuming.
Well worth it folks. Go get one!

This is my second Dyson as I purchased a DC07 when they first were out several years ago . I Love the DC21. It is made beautifully and so much easier to haul around than any other machine I tried and I tried out many. The only thing that I found that was difficult was that the cord is very short compared to most but since it retracts into the machine that is as long as it could be. It is perfect though as I have a beautiful home with hardwood floors and it is so easy on them and picks up so well as I have two cats, an Australian shepherd and if anyone knows them they shed alot and a little chihuahua and my home is spotless. This machine is fantastic . Dyson did it again.
