Tools and Hardware Reviews of Dyson DC21 Stowaway Canister Vacuum

Customer Review: don't judge a book by it's cover
Summary: 4 Stars

When this came yesterday, the interior box was in very rough shape. The vacuum (dyson 21 stowaway) had obviously been packed in a used box - and we all know what that means. I very, very carefully checked the machine for signs of use, considering that I had purchased it new. There were a few minor scuffs on the power head, but overall, it appeared to be brand new. With some misgivings (I had waited a while to purchase this), I finally started it up and gave it a try.

This vacuum works great. I am very pleased with the performance. The hose is sturdy, the cord tucks away (and it is long enough for me to go across an entire room), it pushes comfortably without a huge effort, and the wand is great for cleaning the bathroom fan vent, etc. It fits under the bed with little effort (unlike my upright). It pulls dirt just fine.

I went from wanting to send it back RIGHT NOW to not wanting to part with it, ever. It works great. I would buy this product for friends (if they wouldn't get insulted that I gave them a vacuum, I mean, c'mon.). I really like it. I can't wait to clean my car next!

Customer Review: Great Vacuum for Hardwood Floors
Summary: 4 Stars

I was looking for a vacuum for our hardwood floors. We have a 2300 sq. foot home and the only carpet is on the stairs. I purchased a Miele vacuum for $1200.00 and it did an okay job. I'm sure the Miele would do a bang up job on carpets but their floor tool is lacking. This Dyson has a few problems such as it does not follow you, it viers to the left. I'm constantly trying to keep it from banging into walls and getting it unstuck from furniture corners. The wand also spins and trys to kink. Since I don't use the stow away feature there is no place to hook the wand. Other than that the vacuum power is great. It even picks up the little tiny black dog hairs that the Miele would leave behind. I like not having to buy bags. With the few problems that it has, I would still recomend this vacuum.

Customer Review: Great Vacuuming power; telescoping stuff a bit hard
Summary: 4 Stars

A really good vacuum as far as sucking power, maneuverabilty, and ease of cleaning go. The wand has to be pulled really hard for the three bits to 'click' into place...i think after a few times, one gets a hang of how much pressure needs to be applied to extend the wand completely.
I don't know if there is some thing to make carpeted staircase cleaning easier the head is still too big for my stairs. Overall, a great buy.
Buying tip - check online for 20% off deals....you never know when you'll land one...I did.

Customer Review: Dysons are the Best, but this model has a couple of drawbacks...
Summary: 4 Stars

I am a huge fan of Dysons in general due to their superior quality of dust removal. I like the handy stowaway design of this model and the colours etc are funky and modern. The only negatives are that the handle doesnt lock very well once extended and keeps sliding in, and although the size looks manageable for a small apartment and small person it is relatively heavy and not that easy to lift up stairs etc.

Customer Review: Money Well Spent
Summary: 4 Stars

Finally, a well engineered product worth it's price. Some people pay thousands of dollars for a vacuum that is no better than this one. Others have complained about the hose kinking. Used properly, this isn't a problem. The suction is great. It stows away nicely. The only bad thing I can say about this vacuum is that the electrical cord is a little too short.
