Tools and Hardware Reviews of Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Customer Review: We've used our Dyson for over four years
Summary: 5 Stars

Our Dyson ball vacuum has served us well for over four years. It has great, strong suction and we like the maneuverability of the ball. My wife says overall she likes the attachment setup, although they come off so readily that our children have lost one of the brush attachments (it'll probably turn up eventually). We both like the way the back comes apart to give you the hose and wand (it is the best thing ever for cleaning cobwebs). You also don't have to bend over to do corners with the wand.

The main thing you need to make sure of is that you dump the bin often enough. We have a dog who sheds a lot and her hair fills it up pretty quick. If you run with the bin full it will clog up the pores in the chamber and eventually you will lose suction (please note this doesn't mean the company is wrong in their ads, this is a result of using the machine incorrectly). However when that happens, my wife reduces it to its component parts (not quite but she takes it apart) and washes it completely out (she does this with the massage setting on our flexible shower head). She's no idiot, but she's not a mechanical genius either and she has never had any trouble doing this. When stuff gets jammed in the brush bar, I have been able to take the brush bar apart, remove the object and put it back together. This takes a little more mechanical know-how, but is not really that difficult either. It is very easy to get into the tubes on the machine itself if your kid sucks up a pen or something.

The only thing that has gone wrong with it mechanically is the recent failure of the brush bar to shut off automatically when the vacuum is upright. We have to shut it off manually.

Customer Review: Simple to install, Simple to Use, and it works!

Ok, I'm a skeptical person. I don't believe the ads on TV. My old cheap model Bissell finally went out (like all the rest of the cheapo vacuum cleaners I bought). My husband Hated replacing belts, the thing just blew dust, dirt around. Bought the Dyson D25 at Amazon.com last week on the Dyson Sales promo ($379 and free shipping). I have pets, but didn't need the attachment. Got the vacuum last night. 10 minutes afer unboxing it (and installing was a snap (pun intended - everything snaps in place)), I was vacumming. We live in Arizona, and have as much tile as we do carpet (if not more). Wow, I was impressed. No more raising and lowering the brush bar from carpet to tile (ugh my back). The bin was filthy after 10 swipes on the carpet (ok, bin a bit small), but all in all, I am impressed. No dust flying, no dirt flying. Changed it over to bare floor mode (button on top, easy), and viola! It worked. Simple, easy to use, and it works. I'm no Martha Stewart, but it does what it says it will. He built a better vacuum...sure it's a bit pricier, but hey, no more belts, a couple of filters to clean (And reuse), that alone saves my husband alot! I like the ball, no more physical lugging of the vacuum around tables...just simply move it around the table!
I see no cons, as my previous vacuum cleaners couldn't reach under my beds either, so I am used to just swiping with attachments (which do work). Tried the wand on our drapes...ew, the dirt!

If you're like me, tired of discount store bargain basement vacuums, with all the hassles that come with them, and have any kind of back problems, buy it. It's easy, lightweight, and works.

Customer Review: You'll be amazed!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

At first I was reluctant to spend $500 in a vacuum cleaner, but I am so glad that I finally took the plunge. Like many others, I purchased mine at BBY with 20% off coupon to save $100. The coupon says you can't use it for dyson, but they will let you.

Old vac vs. dyson: I vacuumed with my old vac first before the initial use of my new dyson to test its effectiveness. I was amazed at how much crud & pet hair this wonderful vacuum sucked up on its maiden voyage. dyson was the clear winner. The suction, as advertised, continues to be strong after six months of use in a home of approximately 2400 square feet in size.

Features: The canister is easy to empty. The brushes are easy to turn off (push of a button) for going from carpeting to wood floors. The built in cleaning wand is very handy to use. The lifetime washable HEPA filter is convenient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly.

The dyson is much lighter and way more efficient than my old upright. I don't smell dust in the air when I vacuum like I did with my old vac--I don't have allergies, but if you do, this vac will please you. I don't find the cord overly short as some have written--it is just over 24.5 feet in length, so unless you have a room longer than 25 feet with only one outlet on one end, the cord length should be just fine. I have tendonitis in my right hand & wrist and I don't find the ball functionality to be hard on my wrist at all--the vacuum moves easily around obstacles and is easy to direct without a lot of effort.

I continue to be amazed at the great performance of this vac and I think you will be amazed, too.

Customer Review: It sucks...really, really great!

I haven't reviewed any item on amazon but I had to say a word on this. This is one of the best vacuums I have ever own/used. I wasn't sure if my husband was going to be happy with the cost, I took a risk buying it on my own without telling him first, but after using it several times he agrees it is one of the best investments we have made for the house. It was so simple to put together and I used it on the first day. We have a long haired cat and I couldn't believe how much this vacuum collected on just an area rug. I had to empty the collection cup twice from all the pet hair that it collected and after I was done it was half full. My husband had a Hoover which blew out more than it sucked up...which was zip! Hardly picking up any of the pet hair. He was even amazed at the power of the Dyson when he used it to dust off his detailed collections. With him being allergic to dust mites it is really helpful that nothing comes back out into the air. I don't end up sneezing like I did with the vacuums before. The movement of the Dyson vacuum makes the task so much easier. We used it today in the living room and vacuumed the hardwood floors and it looks like we had spent hours sweeping and cleaning when it only took less then 10 minutes. The other thing I was impressed with was the noise level. While it still sounds like a vacuum, sending the cat to the closet, it is not so loud. I could still hear the TV without turning up the sound and I was able to hold a conversation with my husband without shouting. Don't let the cost hold you back, especially, if you have allergies because it is well worth it!

Customer Review: DC25 Perfect For My Apartment
Summary: 5 Stars

Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner

I bought the Dyson DC25 at a local Target store and the vacuum was a great purchase right out of the box. The suction has never been lost with this vacuum and it is the perfect size to maneuver around my one bedroom apartment. It fits just fine under and around all of my furniture and the attachments and wand are not too long or short to reach all corners or crevices. I love the fact that you do not have to get new filters or bags since they integrated a washable HEPA filter for the unit. The vacuum was very simple to assemble as long as you can read and follow the simple directions. I recommend inspecting all of the attachments and filters before using so you can familiarize the buttons and connections before you begin actually vacuuming to make your experience smooth and effortless. After seeing many commercials on the Dyson Ball it definitely lived up to the hype. I do recommend waiting for any rebates or discounts that would decrease the price of the vacuum. The initial sticker shock is painful but once you see the results in the Dyson canister it will be rewarding. Many reviews on this site speak of the product being too small to heavy too short or too tall but the product experience will be different person to person, so I recommend going to a local shop and trying a display vacuum to see how it suits you and maybe get an actual demonstration of the features and attachments. I hope this review was helpful to all consumers.
