Tools and Hardware Reviews of Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Customer Review: Great suction
Summary: 5 Stars

I got a great price on this through Amazon, and got free shipping and no tax. It is exactly what it is advertised to be, an incredibly maneuvarable vacuum with incredible suction. We had a basic Hoover upright, and when we switched to the the Dyson, it picks up stuff from the carpet that we didn't even know was there!
Pros:
* Amazing suction and manuevarability (unbeatable in terms of straight up vacuuming, it's like driving a Porsche--also the suction is everything it's cracked up to be)
* Easy to use removable dust bin (comes right off and you just take it outside and dump it with a little switch)
* Filters are easy to clean and last for life of vacuum
* Lightweight

Cons:
* I would like one brush attachment that is a tad larger (the upholstery brush is only about 3 inches)
* I would prefer the on-off switch be part of the handle
* The "wand" set-up for attachments is a bit clumsy compared to e.g. some canister set-ups I have used

Comparison to other dyson models:
If you are considering the DC28 which is a non-ball vacuum, it has a lot more bulk (twice as heavy) and less maneuvarability, but it has a better range of attachments and slightly more bin capacity. It all depends on what you need. If you need to move around a lot of tightly packed furniture, I'd go with the DC25. If you need to do a lot of vacuuming of drapes, couches and odd places the DC28 may be a better choice.

Customer Review: Simply awesome from a sceptic - DC25 Animal (purple ball)
Summary: 5 Stars

Well, we still have a Miele Cat & Dog but after 5 years, it requires servicing and I am sick of buying bags (that seem harder and harder to find and go up in price) and also replacement of the filters......I was sceptical about the Dyson based on reviews and complaints many years ago about them scratching tiles and hardfloors.
I also had a preconceived idea about the technology.
A friend bought the DC19 fortnight ago and loves it so to help out my wife, and after much research, I took the plunge and got the DC25 today.

Where do I start? After coming home tonight from hospital, my wife actually vacuumed the house first with the old Miele.
This was then followed by our new Dyson DC25. Absolutely 'gob-smacked'.....we collected a whole container full of hair, dust and dirt and we take our shoes off!!!! (always have)
We thought we have an ultra clean house and have Dupont Stainmaster carpet and porcelain tiles........but a whole container of further dirt, dust and hairs??? Incredible pure and simple.

I know its only our first clean of the house with this new vacuum but man, we did not expect this. My wife feels like cleaning the whole house again tomorrow.......!! Now thats a first, not only that but we thought our Miele was great.........damn

At this stage, I would not have any hesitation to recommending this amazing vacuum.

Customer Review: Incredibly outstanding vacuum!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter surprised me with this vacuum as an early Christmas gift. I was completely blown away by her generosity. This is the most awesome vacuum I have ever seen. Totally cool!! It is lightweight, and wonderfully easy to maneuver. It does turn on a dime. You just have to learn to work your wrist. It cleans hard floors just as well as carpets and clean them it does. I am a very good housekeeper but each time I vacuum, I pick up an astonishing amount of dust! This is a super vacuum. It is very easy to use and there is no bag to worry with, no belt, etc. When you vacuum, you can dump the contents with the push of a button. Could not be easier. The tools are easy to access and use and then put away as well. It is a lot quieter than my Hoover WindTunnel also. Much quieter. The only thing I would complain about, and it's not really a complaint, is that the cord is not as long as I'm used to, but that's no big deal. For a vacuum this great, I don't mind it a bit. I emailed the company to tell them how great it was and got a nice response and something I didnt' know: nearly all their staff are engineers!
If you can afford it, this is one vacuum you want to buy. I believe it will last all your life, truly I do. It is so wonderful and deserves every adjective you can think of to describe it. Do not hesitate to buy this machine. You will not be sorry.

Customer Review: DC 25 EXCELLS
Summary: 5 Stars

I had been using an oreck upright for the last 6-7 years and enjoyed its light weight. It became harder and harder to push so after much research bought a Dyson DC25. WOW! The Dyson is about 6 pounds heavier but its maneuverability - thanks to the ball - is awesome and almost makes me forget about the Oreck's light weight. Weight issues aside ( the DC25 is still the lightest of the typical name brand uprights), the DC25 is muuch more powerful than the oreck. I t picks up materials close to a wall and because you can turn off the beater bar you wont be chasing crumbs all over your hard floors. Its much quieter than other uprights I have tried. On carpets it picks up an incredible amount of animal hair even after vacuuming with my old vacuums!
On the downside, the cord is too short and although the tools work well thanks to great suction, they are awkward to use because the hose keeps pulling the machine over unless you finesse your way around this problem which is typical of machines with onboard tools. With 3 animals in my house the the canister fills up fast and I wish it was larger.
Regarding stairs, by holding the front handle you can do stairs without any attachments although this too requires some finesse and a little strength.
Overall, unless you absolutely need lightweight, this is probably the best vacuum out there!

Customer Review: Better than I ever imagined!
Summary: 5 Stars

I had my carpets professionally cleaned and bought this shortly after. I was amazed at the amount of dirt, hair, lint, and all kinds of stuff this baby picked up. I had to empty the container sometimes twice in a 12x20 area. The difference in air quality in my house is noticeable after having vacuumed the whole place with this great piece of equipment. I also love how easy it is to maneuver.

The clear canister makes emptying a pleasure instead of a chore (I get a kick out of not having to buy anymore bags :) ). To empty the canister I press one button on the vacuum to separate the canister from the vacuum body, walk over to my outside garbage can, hold the canister over the garbage can, click a red button and poof, everything falls into my garbage can. I then place the trap door at the bottom of the canister on the ground and press gently from the top of the canister to secure the door in place. Not once have I gotten dirty while changing the "bag". Thoroughly cleaning the filters is more involved but that doesn't need to happen at every bag change.

Anyway, I can't say enough good things about this device. They have really done their homework in its design and I'm glad I paid every penny for it. I have a combination of hardwood and carpet floors in my house and this guy cleans them both without a hitch.
