Tools and Hardware Reviews of Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Customer Review: Best Vacuum cleaner ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have spent $1500 on a vacuum (Kirby) which was heavy and bulky, and then ($1200) on a Rainbow. Again, heavy and bulky. Both just did not preform to my liking. Then in 2000 I moved to England and while living there, I bought a Dyson, not the Dyson Ball, back in 2000 they only had the single cyclone. And with just one cyclone I was highly impressed. I have spent over a thousand dollars twice on vacuums and nothing could beat my Dyson. I had to move back to America in 2008, and the one item I wanted to bring to America with me was my very much loved Dyson, but America runs on a different amps here, and would not run my English Vacuum. Once back, I bought a 5 cyclone upright Eureka. The vacuum never had a great suction power, and it was always getting clogged. After using it for 1 1/2 years, I broke down and bought the Dyson Ball!!! It's even better than my loved vacuum I had in England. This has excellent suction power, incredible actually, it also is very light weight, moves with ease and self adjust when I go over different floor types!! That is such a plus, I have 3 types of carpet in my house and also tile and wood flooring and this wonderful vacuum will adjust itself instead on my reaching down to turn a dial like my old vacuum.

So, I can not say enough about the Dyson Ball, it is worth any money you spend!!

Customer Review: Buy this machine
Summary: 5 Stars

After going through two of Hoover's bagless WindTunnels in as many years, I bought the Dyson DC25. I am not disappointed. I have owned it for about 2 months and I vacuum at least once (sometime twice) a day. We have two dogs who shed constantly. Plus, we own a horse farm and all sorts of matter is tracked into the house. We have mostly hardwood floors, only the bedrooms and media room are carpeted. The dyson does a great job on both surfaces.
My complaints are minor:
1. The cord is quite short - only about 20 feet, but I find that only a minor inconvenience.
2. It does take some wrangling to use the attachments as you have to disengage the entire handle and hose.
3. My biggest complaint is that cleaning the dust bin (canister) is not as easy as Dyson would like you to think. It requires reaching in to remove dust, and pet hair, that doesn't just fall out when you depress the release button. Also, every 3rd or 4th time it is emptied, you really should take something and brush out the cylcone tunnels and perforated housing. I use a soft 1" paintbrush and it does the trick.
I am giving it 5 stars because - so far- it is keeping up with the dog hair and dust and dirt we track in from the barn, tack room and pastures. I can't ask for more than that.

Customer Review: Great!
Summary: 5 Stars

I really love this vacuum. It was super easy to put together out of the box for a start. Really ingenious the way the long tube for reaching far away small places becomes the handle and so easy to use rather than attaching when you need it like other vacuums. The hose is very long but is a bit stiff to pull on, when it's fully extended it wants to go back to its original postition so it pulls a bit. The attachments are great, one is a 2-in-one. They both just click into the side - no fiddly compartment that you can never get to shut after the first time you open it! It works great on wood and linolium flooring - I don't think i'll ever use my broom again! I wouldn't give it high marks on weight. Other reviews say how lightweight it is, I still find it quite heavy but I don't have much experience with other vacuums. It sucks - in a good way. You can go past a piece of dirt and it will suck it in even if you haven't gone directly over it. You have the option to turn the spinning brush off if you prefer with one easy click right next to the power (which is easy to reach). The best thing that makes it so much easier to use is the ball function. You can turn and get into fiddly spots really easily. It turns so easily in whichever direction you want it to go. Definitely would recommend!!!

Customer Review: Dyson 25 seems worth every penny
Summary: 5 Stars

I always have two vacuums---one large Lux ($2400!) that I use weekly for thorough vacuuming and then a second light weight one that I use almost daily. For the last 10+ years I have had to replace the second vacuum almost yearly at a cost of $100-150

I have had my Dyson DC25 Ball for only a few weeks but so far I am very impressed. It is light, maneuverable and has great suction. I will wait to see if it lasts. I have two large shedding dogs and they are hard on vacuums. I am hoping the 5 year warranty will protect me.

I do wish the chord were longer, but so far that is my only criticism.

My last Lux (actually, that was when they were the original Electrolux) only lasted 10 years and then I was faced with an $800.00 repair bill. My new one is only a few years old and is supposed to last my lifetime. The fact is, however, that every year it gets harder to lug around that weight.

I am serously considering retiring the Lux and using the Dyson exclusively. First I will have to see how hard it is on Oriental carpets. With Orientals you are supposed to avoid carpet beaters, and I do not see a way to turn that off. The Dyson does not have the great number of brushes as the Lux, so maybe it will not be a problem.

Customer Review: A keeper
Summary: 5 Stars

I've used 3 different dysons. This is the only one worth keeping. We had trouble with the other dysons due to inability to get the vacuum from a bare floor up onto a large area rug (the suction was too high). Furthermore other the dysons' brush would stall on thick carpet. Finally the other dysons were just engineered poorly; from having to step on the front of the vacuum to lower the handle to the weight to the impossible to retract extension hose - they were junk and all returned. The only good thing about the other Dyson models is the suction, and I found it to be too much. When I need that much suction, I use a $50 shop-vac. I'm happy to say that all of these issues with the other models are addressed with this new ball Dyson.

I could care less about turning radius of the ball, but it does make sweeping over rough surfaces much easier. I even vacuum my paver patio with it.

The canister is large enough for any normal job.

Compared to other vacuums half the cost, the power cord and the extension hose is far too short. Otherwise, this is a great vacuum. If you have the money, it is recommended. If you think it is expensive, a light weight $80 Eureka will more than do the job (and you can replace it every year if it breaks).
