Customer Review: A better vacuum

Like many buyers, I bought this after my Eureka started to work poorly (after only 5 years.) I hesitated, because of the price, but you get what you pay for. Also, I had spent as much on filters as I had spent on the previous vacuum.
My house is mostly carpeted, so I am glad I spent the money on the Dyson. It really picks up a lot and is very maneuverable. The attachments and the long reach wand enable me to clean areas that were previously inaccessible. I also like the fact that is is really easy to empty the dirt cup. Equally important is that the face plate over the brush can be removed for cleaning. I have long hair and there's no avoiding the fact that it will wind around the brush eventually. The tree-hugger in me appreciates the washable filter- no disposables in the landfills.
The only problems are that the crevice tool falls off whenever I use the hose and that the floor tool has to be stored separately. (That's why I only gave it 4 stars.) In spite of that, it's money well spent!

I recently bought this vacuum cleaner, having tried and returned the DC07 model last year. (I really didn't like the gyrations necessary to use the DC07 wand & attachments, but that's another review.) Anyhow, the DC14 is a HUGE improvement IMO and the low-reach attachment works great. I particularly like that the filter is located on the top of this model and that the extension wand is much easier to use than the DC07. The machine is relatively quiet and does a good job of cleaning; it's also very easy to empty the dirt canister. I have owned many different makes of vacuum cleaners over the years, from the ridiculously expensive Kirby and Rainbow cleaners to my all-time favorite, the Hoover Wind Tunnel. (I still have my trusty Hoover "just in case", lol.) All in all, I recommend this Dyson model and feel that it is money well spent. You should get one!Customer Review: Dyson DC-14 Low reach

The vacuum works great but after a few uses one of the tools broke. I called Dyson and they said they would send a new piece right away. That was over two weeks ago, I called again and they had no record of the phone call, order, serial number nor the problem.
This is disappointing.

Overall, a great product. My only complaint is the telescoping arm, it seems flimsy and has disconnected several times when I did not intend it to. Note that this is one area that has improved since the previous model, the DC07.Customer Review: Pretty happy with it

No major complains so far. But it does seem a bit flimsy, the attachments does not seem to secure on very tightly.
