Tools and Hardware Reviews of Dyson DC16 Root 6 Handheld Vacuum Cleaner

Customer Review: Excellent for what it is
Summary: 5 Stars

My husband finally purchased me this as a semi-present. I had a Shark handheld before this, and of course a dustbuster. We read bunches of reviews, and were somewhat nervous about spending that much money on a handheld vacuum. I am so glad we purchased it! I have wood floors and tile in my house, and use the vacuum to sweep on the piles of dust and debris on the floor. I have also used it to suck up a broken glass, and even use it for crumbs. I have NEVER had a problem with the battery; I think as long as you don't continuosly run the vacuum for over 3 or 4 minutes, you will be fine. And you need to remember, this is a vacuum for small spills, messes, etc. I don't have a problem with the weight, and I love the fact that to empty it requires only pushing of a button. I have recommended this to many friends and family, and am very satisfied with my purchase. Would highly recommend.

Customer Review: The Dyson Root Works
Summary: 5 Stars

After extensive research, and being tired of our beast of a vacuum cleaner, we bought a Dyson DC17 Animal upright. Not inexpensive, but it is great! So when we wanted a new handheld vacuum we went for the Dyson Root 6 DC16. It also works great. True, it last only 6 minutes, but the charge stays strong until then, and then it is done. It recharges relatively quick, and is ready to go again. Six minutes is a long time to be using a handheld. Typically you grab it, use it on a small area, and you're done. Other handhelds don't hold charge all that long either. You empty the dirt similar to how it is done with the upright. Hold it over the waste can, the bottom opens up and the dirt falls. Click the bottom shut and that's it. And the "gun shape" design is easy to hold and use. I recommend this product. Both of our Dysons work as advertised.

Customer Review: Excellent hand held
Summary: 5 Stars

We have had this vacuum for a couple of years now and found it to be excellent. It sucks up dirt and dust very well, but the best part is the fact you can pull it apart and wash all the filters. So it continues to operate at full efficiency. It seems well made and we have had no problems with it. The battery did stop taking a charge after about 16 months so we bought a new one, not the genuine Dyson one, but a cheaper copy, which worked.
Even though the battery was relatively expensive, around $60, it was better value than buying a new hand held vacuum which would not be as good as the Dyson, and not have the great feature of being washable.
So my advice is just bite the bullet and get the new battery when you need to and enjoy using a better quality, more effective vacuum over the longer term.

Customer Review: Nice Vac
Summary: 5 Stars

Great suction, easy to clean, love the hang-on-the-wall ability. We have it stowed away in the laundry room on the wall, very easy and convenient out of sight.

Only thing I would say negative, like many other reviews here, is the battery-life is remarkably short. I understand it's cordless and handheld etc, but c'mon 5 minutes? I knew this when I purchased it, and I am ok with it, but I would have been ok with a battery twice as big for a 10 minute charge.

Otherwise this does exactly what it is intended to do and what it says it will do in the instructions; which is why I won't take away a star. It cleans up quick (dry) messes with excellent suction power and an easy to clean transparent canister, nice overall comfort in the hand, and quality build.

Customer Review: Amazing handheld vacuum, would buy it again if I had to.
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm surprised with how many bad reviews there are this handheld. Many seem to compare it to a regular vacuum, which it is not. I've owned two or three dustbusters in my life which collected more dust than they sucked up which is why I had given up on handheld vacuums until Dyson released this one.

I've owned this handheld Dyson for over a year now and it is a god send! Yes it does have a short battery life - but again, this is a handheld. The battery life is comperable to the Dustbusters I have owned in the past. The suction on the other hand is outstanding! We use this to vacuum out the car, the stairs in our house and to tidy up the entryways. The vacuum sucks up so much so quickly that I really don't find the battery life to be a problem.
