Tools and Hardware Reviews of EUREKA MINI BOSS UPRIGHT VAC 442A

Customer Review: good overall
Summary: 4 Stars

lightweight, easy to use
only critisim is that the filter is hard to get all the dust out of

Customer Review: Okay for last minute or back up.
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought because of the price and needed a quick fix. It actually sucks up quite a bit, but the dust and grime just packs onto that filter and when you empty the cup, you have to pull off the hair and gunk from the filter... gross! Kind of messy. Bagless vacuums are such a hit now...but I don't see why! I'd rather buy bags than inhale or touch the dust inside when it's time to empty!

Customer Review: it's uses are limited

this is a decent little vacuum within a certain range of expectations. As other reviews have pointed out this is not going to perform like a $300 top-of-the-line machine, but I don't think it's too much to ask that it pick up the dirt on my carpet. It did not do that. Well I should say it picked up the surface dirt, but as the Bissell upright I got yesterday showed us it was not getting anything below that; I filled up it's canister just vacuuming a 6x12' area and it was filled with very fine dirt that this has obviously been missing for the last year. that said I am keeping it because it does have it's uses. I will use it on the hard floor surfaces of the house and to clean up around the cats litter boxes. however, unless you're doing most of your vacuuming on hard floors, and have no use of a hose attachment (I thought I could get away w/ not using one, but after a while I decided I really did need one), then I suppose this is a good choice. I should note though that the filter is a pain to use and you should definitely invest in a small shoe brush to clean it between washings because it takes *forever* to dry. also you'll want to keep this vacuum against a wall because at least w/ mine the mechanism that keeps it upright broke after a few months of use.

Customer Review: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought two of these weaklings in 2007 for light jobs on hardwood floors. One for me and one for an elderly parent. After failing to preform the smallest jobs, they were stuffed into the back of a closet until recently. I am good in the workshop and can fix most anything and make it work. The problem with these vacuums is that the motors are terribly weak. The brushes scatter whatever they hit without picking it up. I have taken them apart and isolated the air flow around the motors. Even though the motors sound like jet engines in a bathroom, they have barely enough suction to hold a sheet of toilet paper without dropping it. I removed the brushes, brush motors and belts and stopped up the holes in each end of the brush holders and reassembled them, leaving only the suction motors. No help. Even by lowering the vacuum heads as close to the floor as possible, they will pick up cat hair and lint, that's all.

The best thing about these vacuums is the ease of cleaning the filters. That's why I bought them in the first place. On most bagless vacuums, I have to blow out the filter with a compressed air at 90PSI to get them clean. The Mini Boss filters would be easy to clean if I was lucky enough to ever get anything on them. These units are nothing more than two bulky and heavy Swiffer dusters that use electricity, cost ten times the price and do not preform nearly as well.

Customer Review: POOR QUALITY
Summary: 1 Stars

I order'd this vacuum after reading other reviews.
One hour after placing my order I happened to find the identical vacuum @ a Target store and was extremely disappointed with its quality. I came home immediately to cancel my order. I spoke with two customer service reps and was told that I would receive an e-mail within 24 hours to confirm the order was suspended after notification was sent to shipping.

Twenty four hours later, I rec'd an e-mail notifying me that the vacuum had been shipped. I was very upset at this news, as I had purchased this item as a gift to be sent to someone who is not capable of handling such transactions on her own and I now had to suffer the inconvenience, frustration and embarrasment of handling the mistake with her and the shipping carrier.

Usually, I am thrilled at the speed of service from Amazon with all other transactions. I just wish there was more than a two hour window for cancellations.
