Avoid Essick!!
We have 2 Bemis humidifiers with same evaporative capacity and case design. One has rotary switches; the other has digital controls. Both are functional and QUIET at lower fan settings.
The Essick unit (successor ownership to Bemis) is intolerably NOISY at even lowest fan settings. Customer service at Essick told me they were aware of the fact that these units are noisy and "that's just the way it is"....
