Tools and Hardware Reviews of Eureka 3670G Boss Mighty Mite Canister Vacuum CleanerCustomer Review: Best floor vac EVER, especially if you have pets!! Summary: 5 Stars
Okay, I deeply love this vacuum. And let me first state that I am not the kind of person to just hand out praise over nothing. I am usually the one criticizing. I know my review is long but that's because I love this vac so much. I cleaned houses all through college and that's where I discovered this vacuum. I bought it because it was cheap! To this day it remains the one thing I CANNOT clean without.
Now, keep in mind, this is NOT a vacuum for all-carpeted houses (it has no rotating brushes) but it does work on carpet, especially if you have no pets. That said, it is ideal for old rugs that can be easily damaged by the rotating brushes. However, it is the best for floors without carpet--and everything else. The long, light-weight and adjustable hose allows you to reach ALL COBWEBS, and you can use the bristle brush to dust everything in your house without ever touching the dust yourself! I dust the leaves of my indoor plants, lamp shades, windowsills, upholstery...anything that gathers dust can be vacuumed with this! Did you groggily spill coffee grounds all over the counter making the morning coffee? Grab The Boss.
It uses bags (they aren't the most common size, MM, but are at walmart and kmart and they're cheap so stock up) which I love. I don't understand the whole 'bagless' craze--it just means you get to scrape the crud out with your hands.
It comes with a few attachments all of which work incredibly well. It has an edger that I use on baseboards--never bend down again! It has AWESOME SUCTION POWER--the most important vacuum feature. Stick it into a jar full of change and it will disappear! (Not that I recommend this, it would be dumb. But you know, sometimes you don't feel like picking that nickel off the floor).
I have owned the same one since 1998 and have never had a single problem!! My house is all hardwood, I HAVE FOUR SHEDDING DOGS and I do not own a broom. I love this vacuum like a child!
Customer Review: Perfect companion for my Oreck upright Summary: 5 Stars
We freecycled our Hoover Wind Tunnel when QVC sent our new Oreck (which we love!) but it didn't occur to me that we would be without a way to vacuum the sofas, lampshades, baseboards, etc. until it was too late.
I started shopping for canister vacs (and was stunned by the prices I saw for Miele, Hoover, etc.) when I found an old Panasonic next to the dumpster at our condominium.
NEVER DO WHAT I DID! It cost a fortune, and took me forever to get rid of the bird mites from that machine that infested our apartment and drove me to the brink of insanity. Plus, I wasted a lot of money on very hard-to-find bags.
But I digress...
So, I had a friend with an older, kind-of pinkish-purplish Mighty Mite, and I remembered being impressed with it when I borrowed it for my car.
I called my friend to ask him what kind it was, and he told me Mighty Mite. He then offered to give me his Oreck over-the-shoulder canister.
I had also borrowed it once, and told him, "Thanks, but no thanks!" (If you have ever used that terrible Oreck companion canister vac, you'd never characterize the 12-amp Mighty Mite as being "loud.")
This Mighty Mite is much improved over the older one my friend has-- onboard tool storage, a place to wrap the cord-- but best of all is how stable it is when you stand it on end to clean high shelves, tops of bookcases, etc.
The included combination tool with brush is a definite weakness, but I went down to the local vacuum-cleaner store, and they fixed me up with really nice tools for just $5.00 each. (I'll keep the included tools in the car.)
Just make sure that what you're getting is the "G" model (12 amps.)
Customer Review: Hard working little vac Summary: 5 Stars
We own a cleaning company and use the commercial version of this little vacuum almost exclusively. When we got a contract for a post construction cleaning for a condo complex we did not want to use our "good" Mighty Mites so we purchased this model because it was cheap. It cost less than half of the commercial model but had the smaller motor. We figured it was a throw away and truly didn't expect it to last thru the contract.
However, it's now 2 years later and this vacuum is STILL plugging along! It has been abused and used A LOT! It has gone thru several post construction contracts on apartment complexes, a year of cleaning an industrial warehouse, and any other really dirty job that comes up. It has recently been cleaned up and put into service in an office.
I don't recommend submitting your vacuum to any of those abuses but I can honestly say this little $60 vacuum has worked longer and harder than any vacuum our company has owned!
The only complaint I have is that the hose and tools are lighter weight than a commercial business needs so we have replaced them. Plus, and this is true of all models of the Mighty Mite, they really need to include the carpet head with the vacuum! You can purchase it separately but why not include it? Now you can also purchase (separately of course) a "turbo" carpet head but it costs more than the vacuum!
Regarding the HEPA filter - the older models and some of the less expensive models will not take the HEPA filter. It is a large filter that attaches over the exhaust port at the rear of the vacuum. I've only seen one model that takes it although there may be others by now.
Customer Review: Great vaccum for the price Summary: 5 Stars
Pros:
-Great suction, even with the bag 2/3 full.
-Lightweight, compact design, easy to hand carry.
-Gets warm but not too hot to carry.
-Swiveling wheels make for good maneuverability.
-Vacuum hose swivels on both ends, keeping hose twisting to a minimum.
-Comes with a floor tool (best for hard floors, adequate but not great for rugs/carpet), duster, and crevice tool. Handle has an adjustable suction port.
-Build quality is pretty good, considering price and weight.
-Bag changes are ridiculously easy, and bags are designed with a cardboard flip cap to help keep dust from spilling out.
-Long power cord.
Cons:
-Floor tool tends to drag on rugs/carpet.
-Vacuum hose made of thin gauge plastic, try not to step on it too many times.
-Cord management could have been improved with a cord clip on the plug that actually fits the cord diameter, along with an easy-off swivel hook for the cord.
-No HEPA filter (if you need that sort of thing) but then again that's one less thing to change/clean.
Overall:
This is a great canister vac for people in small homes/apartments, or homes with mostly hard flooring. Compact, maneuverable, light but powerful. Suction stays strong even when the bag is starting to fill.
Customer Review: New Mighty Mite Vac a Worthy Successor to its Predecessor Summary: 5 Stars
When my original Electrolux Mighty Mite finally gave up the ghost after over 20 years, I was happy to see that there was a successor model that was getting rave reviews. So I bought the 3670G (the 12-amp model) and can report that those rave reviews are warranted. I love:
- the powerful suction;
- the light weight;
- a long handle that means I don't have to stoop;
- the compact design;
- that there's no beater-bar to damage my oriental rugs;
- the low price;
- that the attachments from my original Mighty-Mite fit this one.
The latter's important because the one thing I don't like about the 3670G is the attachments. The included floor attachment works fine on my wood floors, but doesn't touch the pet hair in the rugs--so I'm glad to have my old floor brush attachment. The included dusting attachment has short artificial fibers and is neither as gentle on finishes nor as effective as the better quality horsehair version I bought as a replacement to fit my old Mighty Mite.
Attachments aside, this is a highly portable, very powerful machine at a very affordable price and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.
