Tools and Hardware Reviews of Eureka Enviro Hard-Surface Floor Steamer,313ACustomer Review: The BEST cleaning aid I have ever purchased! Summary: 5 Stars
If I am going to spend money on a household cleaning item I want to make sure it works. I researched the Eureka enviro. steam mop and was still hesitant. After comparing features and prices i decided to pull the trigger and purchase one. It was the best thing I ever purchased for my home!
Clean, disinfect and be environment and pet friendly. What I am saving on cleaning products is amazing. This mop took up stains on the linoleum that had been there for years and a standard mop could not release. There are a few things you should know about your mop though:
1) When you first use it the water will leak out fast and the steam is not really visible. Don't return it! I don't pretend to assume why, but after about 3 uses it works super efficiently drying floors in a minute or less.
2) The steam works best when pulling the mop towards you. I push it forward and pull it back VERY slowly. Remember even at about 220 degrees the steam needs 5-6 seconds to sanitize. Yes it may take a bit but your not plunging and wringing a mop .
3) I don't machine wash the pads. I soak them in a bit of detergent to release the dirt then hand wash in warm water. You should also hang them length-ways to dry. The fibers are cotton and will shrink so a bit of stretching may be needed for pads that have been used many times before. I don't machine launder for the shrinking issue.
4) You can flip your pad and use the backside to finish mopping a floor. No need to dirty another pad.
5) For stubborn stains let the center of the mop rest over the spot for 10-15 seconds. Repeat as needed.
6) Really deep textured linoleum or tiles will need a follow up scrubbing. Obviously this does not have bristles so it can't pick up dirt in deep grooves :-)
I hope this helps you decide and use your mop. I really hope you <3 it as much as I do!
Customer Review: Eat off my floor! Summary: 5 Stars
I read all the reviews on Amazon about all the major contenders in the steam mop category before I purchased this one. I was surprised to learn that even though they are all in the same price range, some only steam the floor and do not sanitize!
Because of my floor situation and layout, the Eureka mop was a great choice. We have a dog and three children and the mop is getting the job done nicely.
I really like the sturdy gripper tabs that lock the cloth on, and I love the fact that the cloth does not have elastic, so it washes nicely and folds up and fits in my drawer really well. Some reviewers have said that they use a regular dishtowel instead of the cloths that come with it, and I can see how that might work well, although I haven't tried it yet.
I also liked the feature that you can remove the handle and clean other things like your counter tops or possibly steam a mattress or couch.
The mop is easy to refill, and seems to clean quite a bit without running out of water. It also cleans right up to the edges, and the little bit of cloth hanging over the sides gets nice and hot and moist so what the mop won't fit to get, the cloth will. I have very successfully cleaned nasty, dried up dog slobber/dog food messes off my floor with it!!
The only things I don't like about it are these: You have to wait a bit for the steam to get hot enough (but you do with all mops, I"m just always in a hurry!!), it doesn't pivot as easily or as far as I would like, and the head is a bit tall so I can't fit even the edge under the front of my fridge or stove.
Over all, I LOVE this mop, and am glad I bought it. It's well worth the money and does a great job cleaning and sanitizing my floors (I have hardwood and ceramic tile). It's lightweight, easy to use and compact to store.
Buy it! You won't be sorry!
Customer Review: 6 cats, 3 dogs, 1 baby, no problem Summary: 5 Stars
With the recent birth of our first child we quickly realized that we needed to step-up our floor cleaning regimen. Our six indoor/outdoor cats and three large dogs track the country dirt and mud into the house at a frightening rate. (Not to mention the shedding, but that's a different battle!) We'd been doing the mop and chemical routine, but we were always worried about exposing our pets to the chemicals, annoyed by the wet floors, and never felt like the floor was really clean. Not to mention that filling, wheeling, and dumping a huge mop bucket multiple times is a big hassle!
Enviro Steamer to the rescue! Not only does the floor seem truly clean after use, but it's so easy to use that I'm cleaning more often. No chemicals, floor is dry within a minute, and I can clean the floor while carrying my daughter in her baby sling! I'm also not trying to shoo critters away from a wet, chemical-covered floor.
The first use did leave large amounts of water on the floor as other reviewers have noted, but it has worked fine since. Do make sure that you don't let the machine sit and steam in the tray--the pad will become soaked, resulting in an overly wet floor. The instructions say to use as soon as the steam starts, and they mean it!
My only complaint about this machine is the cord placement. It is low on the machine's body and is somehow awkward as you mop. Just can't seem to keep it out of the way. **edit 3/7/11 Last night I was tired of dealing with the cord so decided to zip tie it to the upper handle--much to my embarrassment I realized that the top cord bracket(for cord storage) also has a clip on the front side of the handle that the cord clips through for during use. The cord is now out of the way.**
Otherwise this product is fantastic. Our floors are crawling-baby ready!
Customer Review: Great! Summary: 5 Stars
First, I want to thank A. Chandler for her comprehensive review of floor steamers. Because of her review I chose the Eureka over the Bissel, and boy am I glad I did! I had tried the Bissel and it was okay (I didn't really know what I should expect) - it was more convenient than traditional mopping, but I worried that I would never be able to use it on hardwoods as it left a lot of water.
Second, I stressed over this decision forever. I first saw a steam mop many many years ago and have wanted one ever since. Until recently they have been difficult to find and VERY expensive.
The Eureka is great! I have never had any problems with it leaving the floor wet. In fact I can walk on my freshly cleaned floor with my socked feet and they barely get damp (I then have to go over my foot prints with the mop of course). The only time it has left the floor a little more wet is when I used my own towel (not the provided pad). I was not cleaning hardwoods so it didn't matter, but it was a good lesson in the need to use the manufacturer's pad if I don't want to leave water on my floors...
I have not had any of the problems that others have noted here. The pads did shrink in the wash (I didn't dry them), but they actually fit the steamer better now.
The only thing that is a little bit of a pain is that you have to wait for the unit to cool down before you empty it - if you are all done mopping. Since the bissel has a more remote water tank, you could empty it right away. I'll take the hotter steam and the less wet floors though.
If you are looking for a great steam mop, and you don't want to break the bank, I highly recommend the Eureka.
If you want to read a really thorough review read A. Chandlers. She was also really responsive when I asked a question.
Customer Review: Excellent product- be careful where you order from Summary: 5 Stars
I recently ordered this product -it was listed by one company that evening. I paid the $129-as most reviews were very favorable for this product. Upon ordering it mentioned there was a back order and would arrive until mid December. Fine! To my surprise it arrived 2 days later. Wow!- The machine is great! and I am not one to get excited about cleaning devices! But it works (so far) like a dream- we used it in several rooms and were amazed at the ease of use along with overall cleaning abilities. Love the ability to swivel around items -not bulky at all. And not flimsy at all. So easy to use and the results are great. No streaking on our sealed wood floors and great for tile and vinyl floors as well-Just LOVE it! No puddling-
And I'm taking the advise of another user and getting some extra kitchen towels to use as extra floorcloths down the road- I tried one of ours out and it works with this unit- just pay attention to the towel design-use something similar to what comes with product!
WORD OF WARNING -this item list around somewhere in the $70's I learned after when almost leaving feedback for the seller and noted others were selling the item for a huge difference than I paid. While I love this machine-and highly recommend it - Be cautious about who you are ordering from- There is no reason to price gouge if the item in most places is on back order, $68-90 is what I have been seeing now, after I purchased mine- and that is a very fair price- it's worth the wait -believe me. And a side note- I did contact the seller to inquire about the huge difference in his price and what is being offered now- basically he feels it's ok to price gouge-
So-Can't praise this item enough-well built- But be more sensible than me- and pay a more reasonable price- the wait will be worth it- You won't be sorry!
