Tools and Hardware Reviews of Eureka Enviro Hard-Surface Floor Steamer,313ACustomer Review: Buy this Steam Mop! Summary: 5 Stars
I have a home that is mainly all ceramic tile and grout. I have 3 kids, a husband who walks around with dirty work boots on, 3 dogs and 2 cats, so we get very heavy traffic on our floors. I have used the Swiffer mop(for quick/daily clean ups) & Libman mops(for heavy bi-weekly cleaning) on the tile with a mild floor cleaner & vinegar and it just left my floors looking hazy and the grout still grey & dirty. I was mopping the floors till my back gave out trying to get them clean so we could walk around in socks without the bottoms turning grey. Never worked. Being a Dutch woman, I tend to prefer doing things how I was raised, by hand and back breaking. I'm glad I got with the program and splurged! Just based on previous reviews from consumers, I took the risk & purchased this steam mop. I opened the box and assembled this mop as soon as I got it and went to work on my floors. Be sure to sweep & vacuum up first while the mop heats up. I also got a spray bottle ready with vinegar & a mild floor cleaner diluted with water as well. I sprayed my floors lightly first with my cleaning solution which is optional(I like the clean scent), then started using the mop.(do not add anything to the mop reservoir other than water!) It's a lot lighter & easier to use than I thought it would be. Had to refill the reservoir twice(wait till the mop cools down before you add more water). My tile & grout looks great and I did a sock test and so far my socks are still white! No more hazy looking floors and my tile grout is almost back to the beige it used to be. I'm sure it will take a few more times to get the grout to my liking, but I couldn't be happier after just one use! Can't wait to use this mop again!
Customer Review: It's so easy to clean my tile floor now! No back pain Summary: 5 Stars
I've been watching this for some time and the price came down so I decided to take the plunge. This is AWESOME! I've been looking for something to do a decent job in cleaning my ceramic tile floors. My whole house has tile except for 3 bedrooms. Other cleaners were to expensive since I'd have to buy cleaner all the time. Just using water, which I pay for anyway, really attracted me. The cord needs to be longer but I can deal with that. I had to refill the container 4times to clean my whole house, about 2000sq ft. I never had to put elbow grease during the cleaning. If the cleaner didn't pick up something I was able to get it with my fingernail. Turned out I only did that with gum. I have no idea how I got gum on my floor. It cleaned up crayon marks with ease. The handle is adjustable so it was at a good height for me at 5'4". The swivel action could be easier, it was hard to get it to turn sideways to reach smaller areas but I can deal with that. I did notice a odd smell after cleaning the house, sorta like a burned marshmallow but I think it's because the unit is new and the first time I used it. It's quiet and I can clean the floor once my kids go to bed. a great buy, cant believe I waited so long. After I cleaned my floors I picked spots at random to wipe with a wet paper towel. No black marks on towel. My kids feet are not black anymore from dirt on the floor. The floor feels different too. About 30min after cleaning the floors and walking on it, you'd think you stepped on something sticky because you hear that sticky sound. But after an hour or the floor was really dry, no more sticky sound when walking on it. I cant believe my floor is really clean, for the first time.
Customer Review: very effective and easy to use Summary: 5 Stars
This is the first steam cleaner I've ever owned. I am going to write one paragraph about my experience with this product, followed by one about the old way of cleaning for comparison.
It only takes a minute to assemble the steam cleaner, and a few minutes to heat the water before it's ready for use. In a matter of seconds it powered through all dirt and gunk stuck on my floors. Pouring some water into the top and plugging it in is all the prep work it needs. It even removed dirt stuck in tight corners. Its height is perfect for getting the area beneath my kitchen cabinets. The actual work of cleaning two fairly small floors (kitchen and bathroom) took about five minutes, followed by a minute to sweep up what had been pulled up from the floor but not stuck to the cleaning pad.
Previously, it took heavy scrubbing to remove stubborn dirt and the various kitchen spills with the sponge mop I used. I had to fill a bucket with water, add chemicals, and move it around as I cleaned. I could never get the floors as clean as they should be, so they ended up merely acceptable. My sponge mop couldn't remove dirt built up in tight corners, which meant I had to get down on the bathroom floor and use a brush. Because the floors never came out truly clean, I was discouraged from even bothering to mop them frequently, instead just sweeping up.
If you have never used a steam cleaner before, I urge you to buy this one. My home is the biggest asset I will ever own, and for a fair price I have a product that makes it much easier to maintain and take pride in. As someone who loves to cook but hates to clean, I couldn't be happier with this product.
Customer Review: Great steamer at a great value Summary: 5 Stars
I did a lot of reading up on steamers and was on the fence between this one and another one until I saw A. Chandlers comprehensive review. That pushed me over the edge and I bought it. I hate mopping but I actually enjoy mopping with this because it goes quickly and does such a great job. It's amazing how much clean floors can brighten up the room. I have 3 kids, two of whom are currently toddlers and without a dog to clean up scraps on the floor, my floors are dirty most days of the week, no matter how much I spot clean.
The mop heats up fast, cleans a large area in a relatively short amount of time and usually on one tank of water, and is super easy to use. The cord is long enough to reach my entire kitchen, which is fairly large and all tile. When I run out of cord, I just unattach the cord from the hook and get a few more feet out of it. I never have to use more than one mop pad, which is convenient in case I haven't washed the pad yet from my last use.
I clean my glass top range and my counters as well. I just start there with a clean cloth, so I'm not transferring floor dirt to the stove and counters then work my way down to the floors. I can't say it any better than A. Chandler already has, but reiterate that I am so pleased with this purchase. I was all set to spend $500 one one of those canister, more industrial steam mops, and what a bullet I dodged by buying this one. I can think of a lot better things to do with the $400+ I saved.
One more thing: I don't recommend overfilling the tank. I did that once and water oozed all over the place once I got started. You can probably top it off without a problem, but don't overdo it!
Customer Review: Very Impressed! Summary: 5 Stars
So I insisted that we purchase this product with our income tax after reading several reviews and finding out our local store only carried the Shark, which I did NOT want. One use, and I'm in love. For the first time ever, I've got my kitchen half mopped and it's actually clean, and my back doesn't hurt. I ordered a mere 40 hours ago and I've received and used it. I'm just letting it cool off a little bit before I refill. I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old. The only downsides(which are slight IMHO) are that the cord does need to be moved, and it is leaving a waffle-esque pattern on the floor, but I imagine that the pattern is the result of years worth of wax/linoleum cleaner buildup and will eventually subside. But the pattern doesn't matter much to me since as I said, I have 2 toddlers and my floor is always scuffed, etc. I had been told that some people have had to "season" their unit before it worked properly, but by the time I was at the end of the hall, it was dry beyond what I had just mopped 60 seconds ago. It even got right near the baseboards extremely clean, but the floor does angle slightly to meet the wall there, so there is a tiny edge of dirt, but that's just my house. It did take me a few minutes to figure out that the handle does swivel more than I initially thought after some awkward manuevering, but I definitely recommend this product to anyone on a budget. I am using distilled water because I live near the marcus shale and there are several different metallic contaminants in my tap water, but it was 68 cents for a gallon and will probably do my entire apartment 3-4 times. LOVE IT!
