Tools and Hardware Reviews of Electrolux EL 7020B Oxy3 Ultra Canister Vacuum

Customer Review: this vacuum had everything I wanted
Summary: 5 Stars

I used my mom's electrolux for 5 years (and she had used it for 5 years before me) and it finally died. I've been searching reviews and looking at models for the past two months, and finally decided on this one. The most important feature was the HEPA filtration, then the ability to do both carpet and bare floors.
It was easy to put together, and the instructions are clear. The telescoping wand is excellent for my needs - I have a bad back and being able to make the wand longer so I don't have to reach and bend is a backsaver! The wand disconnects from the hose easily. The power contols are on the wand within easy reach of a thumb. I did have to read the instructions to figure out which button was which. There are 3 buttons - power, bare floor/carpet, and suction strength. There's also a manual pedal adjustment on the powerhead for carpet pile adjustment that's easy to adjust with your foot. Power cord is a little short, but easily solved with an extension cord. The carrying handle also serves as the cord retriever - neat! It's easy to carry up and down stairs. The bag is easy to get to and replace. It comes with the option of using an s clinic bag or an s classic bag. http://electroluxservice.stores.yahoo.net/vacuumbags.html
It cleaned medium pile carpet, persian type rugs, and bare floors with ease. I haven't found it too heavy, and the large wheels make it very easy to maneuver. It comes with an extra wide bare floor head and an upholstery head that I haven't found the need to use yet. In addition, there are two heads (dust and crevice) right in the wand piece. The powerhead is noisy but not as much as the previous model I used, and I'm willing to deal with the noise because it cleaned the carpet so well.
I've been pleasantly surprised by this model, and am very happy with it.

Customer Review: Best Yet
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned a Miele canister and Kirby upright, and currently own two Kenmore canister vacuums. The Electrolux is by far the best of all of them. The Miele is lightweight and powerful, but the powerhead uses the suction from the vacuum to operate the powerbrush. This makes it good for low and medium pile carpet, but the powerhead on the Electrolux significantly outcleans it. The Electrolux powerhead also works very well on our vinyl floors, so I haven't even used the floor attachment. The Kenmore vacuums are heavier, and the retractable cords are a real nuisance. I have to pull the cord out before moving the canister, or the plug pulls out of the wall outlet. This is not a problem with the Electrolux, and its light weight and compact design make it easy to carry up and down stairs. The Electrolux is also much quieter, and the swivel head on the powerbrush makes getting into and around corners much easier. The Electrolux is much easier to pull along as you go. Unlike the Kenmores, which are constantly going off in odd directions and banging into furniture and walls, the Electrolux tracks straight behind you. Also, the adjustable suction and touch controls on the handle of the Electrolux are nice features, and even though the wands on the Kenmores are metal, they are constantly breaking. I can't count the number of times that they have been replaced. I also find the telescoping feature of the Electrolux wand to be a great feature. It can significantly reduce the strain on your back, plus, it's good for getting cobwebs on 9 foot ceilings.

I did a good deal of research before making my choice, and I am very glad that I chose the Electrolux.

Customer Review: NICE VACUUM
Summary: 5 Stars

EL7020A is the highest rated canister by Consumer Reports in 2006 - this is why I chose it. I had this vacuum for almost a month now, and I really like its performance. I like that the wand with the power brush fits under the bed where my upright did not fit. I like that this vacuum has HEPA filtration and I do not sneeze when vacuuming anymore.

The vacuum has powerful suction and nice features like "auto power-brush off when something gets stuck in it" and "auto suction reduction when something stops the airflow, so you can pull it out". E.g., if a corner of a bathroom rug gets sucked in, the vacuum reduces suction power and you can pull the rug out, and the suction increases automatically.

The bags are very small (mine filled up with carpet fibers after vacuuming the house 2 times). I did not mind, all that means is that I don't keep all that dirt inside my vacuum in my home and throw it away more often. Like one other user said, the "change bag" light did not come on when the bag filled up. I found that the bag was full thanks to my curiosity. I suspect that the "change bag" light performance depends on what the bag fills up with - if it fills up with carpet fibers, which still allow sufficient airflow, the light won't come on.

Another interesting thing I found was that the box says "Model EL7020A", but the bottom of the canister has a sticker that says "Model 7001". I contacted Electrolux about the discrepancy, and, according to their Customer Service Rep, the model EL7020A is a combination of the 7001 canister and a power carpet brush (plus a bunch of other add-on tools).

Customer Review: amazed
Summary: 5 Stars

I have to say, I really didn't know how well my vacuum was not working until I took a big leap and bought this vaccuum. I consider myself a pretty clean person, thoroughly cleaning the house about once per week. I have always had an upright, but since I have a 2 story looked into the canister. This vaccuum is so quiet and easy to carry. It is a bit odd to pull the vaccuum behind, but the the job it does and the ease I can change the tools from floor to cleaning the blinds is great! I have a thicker carpet higher pile carpet, which I was concerned about the cannister based on reviews, but this Vaccuum automatically adjusted itself and really sucks and digs into the carpet. You don't feel the need to continuously go over areas that are higher traffic because it does such a great job the first time around. Pet hair is no problem for this vaccuum. Also I am a longtime allergy sufferer, and dust and allergens are not kicked up like they typically are. I also use it for all hard floors and it is great. For stairs and car vacuuming I highly recommend the powerbrush attachment. Before purchasing it, I was leary on the price because for me that is quite a bit of money. But I am so happy with it, it was well worth the dent in the pocket book.

Customer Review: Electrolux EL 7020B OXY3
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased the Electrolux EL 7020B Oxy3 canister vacuum several months ago, and have been very pleased with its performance so far. My family had Electrolux vacuums when I was growing up, so I was familiar with the Electrolux quality in vacuums. I realize, however, that the current Electrolux company has changed hands over the years and is not the original Electrolux company. I decided to buy the vacuum anyway since my upright vacuum was just too cumbersome and heavy to push around.

The Electrolux is lightweight and the large wheels make it easy to move around. One of the most convenient features is the buttons on the handle to the turbo cleaner -- on/off switch, variable suction button, carpet/bare floor buttons are all easily located on the handle that pushes into the wand that goes into the turbo cleaner brush.

It cleans extremely well on both the bare floor and carpet mode, and I can easily clean under beds with the turbo cleaner attached to the wand.

The Electrolux is exactly what I wanted in a new vacuum -- easy to move around, effective and efficient cleaner with HEPA filter with enough tools to do a thorough cleaning job.
