Tools and Hardware Reviews of Electrolux Oxygen Canister Vacuum Cleaner, EL6988ECustomer Review: I love this vaccum cleaner Summary: 5 Stars
I grew up with upright vaccum cleaners and when mine broke down, I borrowed an electrolux harmony from my friend. I loved the ease and the light weight of the canister. I ordered the Oxygen instead because I wanted more power....I got it! This vaccum has great power. The self propelled motor in the head is great. The bags are a little small, but I love not having to dust after I vaccum. The attachments make changing surfaces and attachments easy. Highly recommend this product.
Customer Review: Electolux 6988D is a star. Summary: 5 Stars
Electrolux 6988D is perhaps the best model you can buy. The newer models have a defect whereby a plastic part breaks off the powerhead and then you can no longer use your powerhead. The 6988D seems to be the last of the older models without the new defect.
It has great suction for carpets and floors, comes with handy tools to reach difficult places and vaccum your furniture. I now have two of these models, and a newer model without the powerhead.
Customer Review: It is working fine, so far Summary: 5 Stars
Other reviewers have complained about the reliability of this vacuum cleaner, but so far I haven't had any problems. It has very strong suction, which I like. It is also light weight. It is a lot easier to use than my old Kenmore which was very heavy. This vacuum is pretty noisy though. The dirt bags for the canister are small.
You may be buying replacement bags more often. Replacement bags are easy to find. I found some at Lowe's.
Customer Review: Electrolux EL 6988D Canister vacuum Summary: 5 Stars
We are pleased with the performance of the vacuum, particularly the suction and light weight of the canister. The vacuum was rated as a best buy in Consumer Reports and has proven to be an excellent appliance. At times, on upholstery, the suction is too strong, but can be dealt with by manipulating the attachments. Have not located the suction reduction control directions in the operating manual...if there are directions.
Customer Review: A vacuum that really sucks.....all the dirt and hairs Summary: 5 Stars
The vacuum is really easy to use. The large wheels move over door sills and changes in florring with no problem. The power brush lifts alot of trapped dirt from carpets. My husband and I we about to buy the vacuum a few months ago. The salesman at LOWES told us that Electrolux was changing the design but not the quality. We waited and saw the deal on Amazon and bought it for less the $200 after the rebate.
