I am really really pleased with the quality and value of this product. (fyi I have been told the person lambasting this product's quality sells a different and more expensive product.)
This does a terrific job - cleans well, powerful suction, easy to use. Not too loud, attachments easy to use. I found the handle release stiff but not really a problem at all. The switch from bare floor to carpet is too stiff, but useable. That is the only downside.
The only reason I would upgrade from this product is if it were really important to me to have a quiet, lightweight vacuum. In terms of quality I am very pleased, and it's not too heavy for me. It might be tough for an eldery person.
It does a great job on pet hair too.

The funny thing is that when my Hoover windtunnel died after only a couple years, I somehow landed on the Eureka Boss - (who knows, maybe it was a good deal) but hated it the first day. I even called the Sears company and griped about it and I remember the rep saying "but everybody loves this model." I guess I just needed to get used to it because it has never let me down. I love the carpet/hard woood floor switch, it has GREAT SUCTION, a long hose, and I've had it for more than five years. What's more is that it's not terribly expensive. THE GUY WHO WROTE THE "MAJOR REPAIR ISSUES CURRENTLY WITH THIS VACUUM, BUYER BEWARE!" REVIEW IS SELLING HIS OWN STUFF (which brands you have likely never heard of). THIS IS A VIRAL MARKETING TECHNIQUE AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS PARTICULAR PRODUCT. IT IS SPAM-SPAM-SPAM-SPAM.
YOU ARE LOOKING FOR USER REVIEWS ABOUT THIS VACUUM CLEANER AND HAVE TO SIFT THROUGH HIS ACHINGLY LONG RANT ON....WHY YOU SHOULD BUY HIS STUFF. Just because it is so annoying, I will never buy anything he is touting.

This vac is great, I've had it for over an year now and it is wonderful. The belt has lasted this whole time. Yes, I do have to constantly adjust the carpet height setting so I do not ruin my oriental carpets and the vac itself... but that is the trick to keeping the belt lasting long. (I previously had a hoover and it's belt broke every 2/3 months) It has great suction power and the accessories are easy to find on amazon and (most) local store. I don't actually own one of these vacuums, but in reading reviews of vacuums I noticed that the same reviewer was panning several Eureka and Hoover vacuums. He typically warned of repair problems with a title of "MAJOR REPAIR ISSUES CURRENTLY WITH THIS VACUUM, BUYER BEWARE!" After doing a little checking, I found that he runs a vacuum sales outlet - primarily selling another brand of vacuums that cost over $500. So I'm somewhat sketical of his bad-mouthing other brands.
