Customer Review: Good for in-between cleanings

UPDATE: this mop is only good for quick clean ups, in between the times I get down on the floor and wash it by hand. I have found that for my high traffic kitchen floor, sitting down on the floor and washing it by hand is the only thing that gets it clean. This mop is better to use on the bathroom floor. It may have a second life in my home as a carpet steam cleaner, but I would need to buy the carpet attachment. I would NOT buy this if I could do it again, not for $80.
If you have hard water on tap, you will need to buy a jug of distilled water. The jug should last you a long while as this steam mop doesn't use much water, and far less water than traditional mopping. I found using the Shark to be easier than traditinal mopping.
Save yourself a headache and make sure you read the manual before you begin or even put it together, in case you decide to return it after you read "the fine print."
There are details in the manual that you won't find on the informercial or on the box! Details such as the distilled water bit, types of floors it can used on, and that at it will pick up more dirt after the pads are fluffed up from washing.
I considered taking it back to the store when I read in the manual that I would have to buy distilled water, but decided I better try it out before I get my $80 back. After trying it out, I decided the mop is worth keeping.
I'm happy to report that the mop isn't packaged with styrofoam, but a material that reminds me of egg cartons. I love that it saves quite a bit of water and has washable pads. [My Libman mop also has a washable mop head]
My only complaint in using the mop is that the cord is too long. But this is solved pretty easily with the little snap holder thing (for lack of a better name) on the cord. You'll usually find them on vacuums at the base of the plug, but on the shark you can slide it all around on the cord; I think it was intended for the purpose of wrangling that super long cord during use, not only for storage.
