Tools and Hardware Reviews of Euro-Pro Shark S3101 Electric Steam MopCustomer Review: Cleanest my floors have ever been! Summary: 5 Stars
I have no carpet in my home. A couple of small area rugs, but otherwise solid surfaces. Hardwood throughout (including bedrooms), with the exception of Kitchen and Bath, which are linoleum.
The Shark Steam Mop delivers as promised - it gets all the dirt, grime, and even sticky messes, with ease. With two kids and a dog (my husband and I call them our "little tornadoes"), my floors get pretty filthy. ANd dragging out the mop and bucket is a huge pain, not to mention the fact that I am then using dirty water to clean my floor. That's a good idea why?? Then there are the chemicals. I switched to white vinegar, and it made a big difference, but then my house selled like, VINEGAR.
With the steam mop, there is NO SMELL. It cleans and deodorizes. When I have a tough spot, I simply press the handle up and down very quickly, to get an extra hot shot of steam - lifts even dried jam off the floor. I have even used it to remove marker off the hardwood, and to steam stickers stuck to the linoleum. Then I can just lift them off. Everything else I've tried was useless, and I'd end up scraping them off with a knife. No need for a knife on my floors now.
It is pretty quiet. My dog is afraid of brooms, vacuums, etc. But I can steam around him, without frightening him. (not too close, obviously - it is steam after all, and I don't want to risk hurting him).
It is so simple to use, my five year old can do it. She LOVES helping me clean, if she gets a turn with the steam mop. My 2yo loves it, too, but is too small to be a real help yet, LOL.
I do not have the "wet rag" problem. If you do, you are using too much steam. Switch to a dry pad, and continue working (not pressing so hard and fast to soak it this time).
My house is cleaner, and smells much fresher, without chemicals.

Euro-Pro Shark S3101 Electric Steam Mop
I LOVE my new Shark Steam Mop. I "decided to try" this steam mop after reviewing feedback reviews throughout the Internet about such products. I have a small bed & breakfast and wanted something to really clean my tile floors in the kitchens and baths AND my hardwood floors. I wanted something good, easy and quick...
My research said the Euro Shark was the best. SO.........I ordered one, kept the box in case I didn't like it and wanted to return it (since it had a money back guarantee).
I LOVE it. Yes, you still have to sweep or vacumm the floors first, before steaming them, but you do that with any mopping job. I no longer have to use those old, nasty mops, dripping from rinse buckets to the floor and then having to wipe it dry.
The Euro Shark is all in ONE easy treatment. I bought a second package of the cloth covers when I need to change while doing several floors at a time. Usually the one is sufficient. The cloth covers just toss into the washing machine and line dry.
The steam is almost instantly and really cleans the floors. It looks and feels very steralized. The mop is light weight, easy to use and automatically releases the steam when you push it forward. No buttons to hold on to while trying to maneuver the mop. The handle is flexible (someone said it was to flimsy, but I did not find that a problem...it is flexible and goes where I want it and into tight areas too). I have my mopping done is just minutes instead of taking forever with the old fashioned mops. THANKS TO EURO SHARK!!
Customer Review: Perfect for homes with naughty pets Summary: 5 Stars
I use my Steam Mop almost every day, for small messes or for an all-over mopping. I'm prone to spilling just about anything I pick up, and the Shark Steam Mop has handled everything I've thrown on the floor. Dirt, spaghetti sauce, puppy piddle, salad dressing, milk, coffee, rusty water, mud and road salt--nothing has been able to stop the Steam Mop.
I have a naughty ferret who loves to hide bright red Coke cans. While no one was home, she got out of her cage and knocked down a half-full can of Coke someone had left on the coffee table, rolling it through practically every room in the apartment before finally hiding it under the bed. Hours later, we came home to sticky, dried puddles of coke all over our hardwood floors--and a sticky, soda-covered ferret waiting for us to find where she'd hidden the can. I got out the Steam Mop and in less than half an hour the entire mess (and a couple of old messes we were finding for the first time) were gone! Without it, I probably would have been down on my hands and knees scrubbing each mess out one at a time and then warning people not to walk there until it dried.
I also love that it has no chemicals, so there's no residue left on my floors. My ferret runs around the house and rolls around on the floors, then licks herself clean, and she throws her food on the floor and hides it under the furniture. With the Steam Mop, I don't have to worry about her picking up toxic chemical residue from the floor and getting sick.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who doesn't have the time to get down on their knees to scrub floors or has pets or kids (or husbands) who eat things that have fallen on the floor.
Customer Review: Great value - great steam mop! Summary: 5 Stars
I've had my Shark steam mop for about 7 months now, and I love it! It is very light weight, which is important to me, as I have back problems and cannot lift or push a heavy piece of machinery. It heats up extremely quickly & starts producing steam fast. I find it is best to prime it with a few pumps to get a good head of steam. A few "practice swipes" are necessary to allow the microfiber cleaning cloth to get dampened, and then you're set to go. I change the cleaning clothes whenever I finish one large room or 2 small ones. I also find that if you set the height of the handle properly, you will automatically push it in and out, as directly. You can always pump the handle if needed, but I don't find it necessary under most circumstances.
I love the Shark because I have 3 cats, 2 of which are seniors. All of my floors are Pergo, a blessing, because with cats come hairballs, and with senior cats come delicate digestions. The Shark is a great for cleaning my Pergo floors. Even with dried stains, if you go over them once with the steam and let them sit for 30 seconds and them go back over them, most will be erased with a second sweep. Occasionally I have to steam something twice & go over it twice or three times, but this is rare. And I am not "scrubbing" or using pressure that is hard on my back.
I've had a great experience with my Shark, and this is after buying a $300 Bissell hard floor cleaner/vacuum that left my floor wet & used up a proprietary cleaning solution. What a waste of money! The Shark is a much better deal - less than a third the price and three times the satisfaction!
Customer Review: What's the problem?? Summary: 5 Stars
I don't understand all the issues with this product, it's great! It is easy to push, lightweight, doesn't leave any wet messes, heats super fast, easy to assemble, & requires no expensive detergents.
I went back & forth before my purchase (between different floor cleaners), paying close attention to reviews. Nothing looked really stellar to me according to the reviews, so I bit the bullet anyways & am glad I did.
I have engineered hardwood floors, as well as tile & this has been the only thing to get the wooden floors sparkly clean. All the new trendy grocery store mops leave obvious streaks & this didn't. This was fast & low on the labor scale, as well as being very pet-friendly. Little to no noise is also a huge bonus to me. Also, I stand at 5'4" and have no back issues after using this floor cleaner.
I didn't find the cord length to be an issue, I have plenty of outlets to choose from. I also didn't think it was too flimsy to be torn up fast - I am only mopping with it. Once primed after plugging in (according to instruction booklet), it worked like a dream.
If I had to nit-pick & search for something to complain about, I'd only say that the microfiber pads are a bit expensive at an average of $20 for a box of 2. Other than that - this product does what it claims to do when using it correctly.... it cleans the floor like a champ!
