Tools and Hardware Reviews of Shark CV242 Professional Stainless Steel Canister VacCustomer Review: Good suction with some important flaws Summary: 3 Stars
Benefits: First of all, this has awesome suction power. The suction adjustment really helps when you need to tone it down so that you don't suck up your drapes. It is light to carry and has a really long hose with an extender that makes it easy to clean the ceiling and other hard-to-reach places. The hepa-filter bag is really great and the stainless steel body (and hose extender) is a real benefit.
Problems: The carpet attachment isn't motorized so it doesn't do well on most rugs. It does work better on flimsy rugs like ones in the bathroom, but it still doesn't do that well - that means you still need another vacuum for the carpets. The cord is very short, shorter than my upright, which can be frustrating going from room to room. They included a tool on the hose that fits into a slot on the canister to help make storage much easier - the plastic was so flimsy it broke within the first five minutes. The hose has a button at the end that fits inside the button hole on the carpet attachment and holds it firmly in place. Unfortunately, none of the other attachments have the button hole and they fall off with rigorous cleaning.
Overall - I love the suction power, long hose and hepa-filters. However, I would love this vacuum SO much more if the carpet attachment was motorized and the cord was longer (even with all the other issues). As a result, I don't think it is worth 100 dollars.
Customer Review: Stick to solid surfaces Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased this Vac with the hopes of having something lighter than my Kirby for my three stories. I am dissapointed with its serious lack of cleaning power on rugs. Hard surfaces it does well. If you have all solid floors, go for it...rugs....don't bother.
Customer Review: Don't Bother. Go Bagless Summary: 2 Stars
I'm satisfied with the performance of the product. It works fine for vinyl floors, which is all I have. Unfortunately, I can't find bags. The company has been out of them close to three months and all I get is the run-a-round and empty promises when I call customer service. The bags that I was promised were arriving in the warehouse three weeks ago and would be shipped to me IMMEDIATELY, still have not arrived at my home. I have an almost brand-new product that is useless. I will not be buying any Euro-Pro product simply because their lack of customer service.
Customer Review: Good Looks, Lousy Customer Service Summary: 2 Stars
First of all, the original model had a 'beater bar" in the rug attachment. This model lacks a "beater bar", making it less effective in picking up dirt.
Secondly, customer service is almost non-existent. I ordered replacement filter bags in February and, like clock work, would receive a postcard in the mail every month, telling me the bags were back ordered. Repeated calls to customer service were of no avail, although they were polite. Finally, my replacement filter bags arrived in JULY, making the vacuum unusable for 5 months !!
Customer Review: not so happy Summary: 2 Stars
When I unpacked this little sucker,it looked fairly sturdy, as this was one of the reasons for me to get it. What disappointment, when the floor attachment immediately broke off at he elbow that attaches to the pipe.
Fortunately I had the attachments of my old europro canister saved and they fit ( to my surprise), which saved me a return shipment and the hazzle.
Would I purchase it again? Probably not.
