Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black Hole Rodent TrapCustomer Review: Ye Deathe of Gophyres Summary: 5 Stars
The black hole is my first line of defense against maurading pocket gophers. I've used one for years and now that I'm expanding my garden greatly, I'm ordering five more. Three for me and two for my sister. These things just plain work. When you find a mound, probe around it with a steel rod to find the tunnel. Dig down to the tunnel, insert the trap facing away from the mound, cover with a piece of cardboard and dump a shovel full of dirt on top. Come back the next day, open hole, take out trap, dump gopher carcass into hole for fertilizer and replace dirt. Satisfied cackling is optional! Buwahahahahaha. . . .
Customer Review: This is the one! Summary: 5 Stars
This thing works, period. And nothing else does. I know, I've tried. Take care to make sure there are no light leaks, and it should work like a gem. Here's a really valuable trick: place them in pairs, back-to-back. Since I started doing that, my success rate has gone to about 95%! I've even caught two gophers at a time this way.
There's nothing like the thrill of your first gopher kill, after they've run amok tearing up your yard. I actually took a picture of his lifeless corpse so I could keep the memory.
Okay, gotta go take my meds now...
Customer Review: The Black Hole works! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been battling pocket gophers in my yard for several years. Poisons didn't work, smoke bombs didn't work, gassing them didn't work, hiring professional pest control companies didn't work. The foxes who lived in a nearby culvert this spring worked but I couldn't convince them to stay around all summer. A neighbor told me about the Black Hole and I bought two to give it a try. So far I've caught 6 gophers and the amount of activity in my lawn has decreased dramatically. These work! Find a fresh dig, set the trap and you'll get them.
Customer Review: Excellent Product Summary: 5 Stars
I had used gas, poisoned bait, water, all without any success. I then used scizzor style gopher traps for several years and they had worked fairly successfully, but I was getting a kill for about one in ten pairs of traps set. Of recent I was facing several "smart" gophers that I could not catch at all even after several hundred efforts. The black hole trap (when set according to the instructions) killed my smartest gopher the first setting. Now I get a kill for every pair I set on the first and seldom worse than the third setting.
Customer Review: Mole Killing Machine Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this trap for a number of years and it is a mole catching machine. The hit rate per setting is about 3 out of 4. The only time I have missed is when I guess wrong about which side of the tunnel the mole is on. Just make sure to put some soil on the bottom of the trap so it seems like part of the hole and seal off the edges with dirt leaving the small hole at the back clear, and you got yourself a kill. The one thing moles cant stand is an open hole. They will show up to plug it.
