I bought 2 of these, one for me and one as a christmas gift for my father. When I took it out of the box, the entire locking mechanism fell off the case and a bunch of foamy/cardboardy stuff began to crumble on the floor. I panicked thinking, how am I going to send this heavy thing back.. but I just pushed it back on and it stuck in place. The stuff that fell out must've been the fire proof material obviously, but I never expected it to just fall off like that. Well, it's no so much for locking out others, but at least it should keep things from burning in a fire. fingers and toes crossed. Also, just enough space for some important documents, but not much. I didn't expect too much since it really wasn't all that expensive. Other than the fact the safe did NOT have the keys in the package that were suppose to be in there, the product and shipment was fine. Amazon could not really help me, but Honeywell responded very quickly and sent me the keys free of charge.Customer Review: safe?

The latch that "locks" the "safe" is hard plastic and could easily be broken with a firm tap. I don't think that they advertised correctly when they attached the word "safe" to it. It is a fireproof box.Customer Review: Heavy safe

Always comfortable buying from amazon - i didn't believe the unfavorable comments on this product - when it arrived i understood why it
s not well rated - the package arrived in poor condition (very flimsy) the safe looks like it was dropped because several corners and damaged - when i opened the safe there was a very moldy smell - even the rosin bag was wet - there were no keys - the instructions on the safe were very wet and smelled and there was some kind of brown junk on the instructions - immediately called the number on the instructions - the company said it was amazon's problem and gave me the wrong number for amazon - finally called amazon and was promised a replacement with free next day shipping - but now i have to lug this big piece of dead weight around to a ups office - awful item - i hope the replacement is in order
