Customer Review: A little disappointed

I had a break-in about 3 weeks ago and it certainly prompted me to take security issues seriously. I got this safe to keep credit cards, important papers, keys and a small handgun. The safe is roomy and sturdy, but I don't like the key set-up. There is an over-ride key which basically makes this safe totally unsafe and unsecure! Any criminal could pry the lock open in a matter of seconds! Also, the safe is mountable to the floor or a wall stud, but the safe is 11 inches wide and most houses are built with 16 inches between the studs! So, only one side of the safe can be bolted into wall studs. A leaning safe is not pretty to look at and it ticks me off that I may have to bolt it to the floor and mess up my hardwood flooring! Would I buy this one again? No! I'd invest more money and get a hotel safe with a swipe card/key pad only set-up. With this type of safe, I wouldn't mind messing up my dam* floors!Customer Review: too good to be true

I got this safe because I need to have some cash handy and I travel a lot so I can leave my valuable in there. This safe is not what I expected to be , first of all it is not American made HONEYWELL. It is a cheap chinese made only stole the name honeywell to fool customers like me. Another problem I had was the battery conpartment came apart during shipping and I had to solder the wires. It is good to mount on the floor or on the cabinet , I am sure it can be opened easily but it is a deterrent so a thief who has 10-15 minutes would not bother with it. I was looking for a little safe for my daughters apartment in PHL. Most of the ones I looked at were over $100 so when I found this one I thought what a deal. It is, however, if you are looking for fireproof safe then this is not the one for you. That is why it was so much cheaper than the others I was looking at. I did not realize it when I purchased it, but when I got it home, my husband pointed that out immediately. Otherwise I would recommend this safe, just be aware its not fireproof.Customer Review: it serves a purpose

This is an OK safe for small objects. Don't expect high security and don't expect fire safety for papers, etc. It is a good deterrent which is why we got it. The installation is easy if you want to bolt it into concrete (no real directions though), but no help fastening it to studs in an existing wall.Customer Review: Honeywell safe

My first key broke in the lock the first time I opened the safe. Amazon replaced the safe immediately at no cost to me. I wish the keys were a little sturdier. Otherwise, I think this safe is a good deal.
