This item is just what the doctor ordered. Quite often when walking into my shop, my hands are full, the room is dark and usually cluttered. Shuffling toward the light switch on the far side of the room is fraught with danger. Now, I step into the room and the one light comes immediately and lights the way to the the other switches.
Turns off consistently too.

Yes... I did forget to shut the closet light off again! But the "Motion Sensing Light Socket" shut it off for me! Thank you! Now Mrs. Real has one less thing to yell at me about! :o)
The directions say you need at least two feet of clearance all the way around, but there are some pipes and one wall that are within a foot, and it still works perfectly.

Purchased this item to help with an awkward light in a basement storage area. It has been very handy as I don't have to reach around the doorway to find the light cord in the dark. The light automatically comes on as the door is opened and turns off after the 4 minutes as stated on the package. I will be buying a couple more for other areas in the house as well!Customer Review: It's also a night light!

I use this motion sensor as a night light. Screw it in a wall light near the bed facing up, not down. Use a 25 w bulb so it's ok near the wall. Set the height of the lamp high enough so it doesn't go on till the person stands up. A little fine tuning aiming the arrows or tilting the lamp slightly may help. The motion detector works exactly as described, and is a godsend in my garage. I'm actually having an electrician install 2 more light sockets in my garage, and will be ordering 2 more First Alert Motions Sensing Light sockets. My wish list for the next version would be to not stay on so long, and to work with the energy efficient blulbs.
