The smoke detector was easy to install and test. We are looking forward to using our TV remote to turn it off when battery gets low. Also read an article saying that ionization alarms give off too many false alerts and don't detect very dangerous smoldering fires so that people should get photoelectric alarms. After reading reviews on smoke alarms I came across this one and was impressed with how thorough the other reviews were so I went ahead and ordered one.
When I received it and went over the instructions and mounted it I just HAD to try the TV remote control on this alarm. It works.
I'm hard of hearing and it's plenty loud enough.
Well worth the money.

For those with this model and having problems with the remote test feature, there is an undocumented way to turn it off. When you insert the battery press and hold the test button while doing so. If you want to use the feature simply insert the battery without pressing the test button. This seems to be an excellent smoke detector based on the design and features
It's rated #1 on consumer sites that I've visted. I like the way it removes from the base to service it and replace batteries. I've only had this for a couple of months so it hasn't had the test of time yet. My old detector was 10 years old and starting to get more false alarms.

I placed this order Dec 30, 2002. Your ad says "usually shipped within 1 to 2 weeks. And you just keep putting my order back and putting it back. With no explaination as to why. I am sorely dissapointed in the handling of this order. The other time we ordered the very same item we received it in a timely manner. I don't know if I will use you again.
