Washing machine floods are not uncommon. Prior to purchasing this unit, I had a different model that saved us from disaster when our 5-year old washer flooded the laundry room from an internal leak. That unit used a solenoid, which started making a lot of banging noises after 5 years. This model is made much better and has the added benefit of battery backup. Installing this device can easily save you 100 times it's cost.Customer Review: excellent product

Took less than 30 minutes to install (make sure you have some teflon plumber's tape). I tested it by sprinkling a few drops of water on the sensor and it shut the water off instantly. Great product, especially if your washer is on the first or 2nd floor where water damage from a ruptured hose could be severe. This is a great product. It's easy to install, gives you peace of mind especially when your washing machine is on a second floor, like mine. If the sensor detects water, the valves are closed at the faucet. There is also an off button, making it easy to shut off the water supply without having to reach around the back of the washing machine.Customer Review: quality product

Was easier to install than was expecting. Instructions were pretty straight forward. Had it set up in about 15 minutes. Seems well built and should do the trick. I guess the only negative thing would be it would be nice it it took a 9volt battery for the battery backup, rather than 4 C batteries - but thats getting pretty picky.Customer Review: 2nd time purchased

I bought one of these for my daughter when we built her a laundry room. If you have your machines on the first floor this is a must have. I got one for myself when I bought a new washer and dryer. If a hose breaks or leaks it will shut the water valves off and prevent a major flood. A nice feature is built in battery back up.
