Tools and Hardware Reviews of Frigidaire 5,000-BTU Mini Window Air ConditionerCustomer Review: Best Air Conditioner I've seen for the Price! Summary: 5 Stars
We now have 3 different air conditioners in our apartment that we've acquired over the past year in New York and this one is by far the best.
Besides this unit, we have a cheap manual 5,000 BTU unit (Daewoo) and a $300 7,500 BTU SPT portable air conditioner. The Daewoo doesn't have an automatic shut off or an energy saver temperature control function like the Frigidaire unit and its almost twice as loud. The STP, though quieter and energy efficient, is a BIG unit that takes up quite a bit of space in our bedroom (65 pounds, roughly 3 feet tall). Though its more energy efficient (An EER of over 12!), it does not have an automatic shutoff (just a timer) or a remote control like the Frigidaire.
The Frigidaire is a really elegant unit and perfect for a room with a television. If one of our other units breaks, I'll definitely replace it with another one of these!
Customer Review: Fabulous! Summary: 5 Stars
I am a senior citizen, 66 years young. I have been renting a bedroom space from a friend of mine for over 13 years. Last summer my a/c conked out and I have been on line looking for a replacement this year.
After searching on-line for a replacement, I decided to buy this a/c from amazon and I am so delighted with my choice. 48 hours to the minute I purchased on-line, the a/c arrived at my door from UPS, free shipping, and the a/c was delivered to my front door.
I was able to get the a/c up to my room by myself, was able to install it myself, and managed to get it into the window myself.
Then I turned the a/c on. Blissfully cool. How lovely. 89 degrees here in Maryland yesterday, the a/c working beautifully. Yes, it is noisy. So what!
Great Buy for the buck! Amazon does it again!
Customer Review: nice product Summary: 5 Stars
cools my 11*11 room very effectively in this Cali heat...a good buy. on the loud issue reported by others, well...it would be difficult to guage it with out examples. umm...lets see, i do not find it difficult to fall asleep with this thing on, nor my TV difficult to hear if i increase the volume a bit, nor do i find it hard to concertrate and study when this AC is on. if anything, the cooler room help me do all those things easier. also, it seems to me that the AC is louder in the first few days of operation. after a week or so, it will work out all the glitches and will be easier on the ears.
Customer Review: Liked it so much I bought another one. Summary: 5 Stars
I received this AC 3 years ago as a house warming gift for my bedroom and ended up putting it in my daughter's stuffy bedroom. I love that I can remotely change the settings without having to go into her room while she's sleeping.
Since I didn't have an AC in my bedroom I bought another 5000 BTU (Daewoo 5300 BTU at Costco). I was extremely disappointed as it does not work at all compared to this Frigidaire model. For $10 more this is the only AC I will ever need for my 120 sq ft bedroom.
Customer Review: works great Summary: 5 Stars
This unit works great. I bought it for my son's room at his fraternity house and it cools his room really well. The energy saver feature is nice as it shuts the unit down when it gets cool enough so they don't spend a fortune on electricity. His room is 12 x 15 and it took about an hour to take the room from 90 when we got there to a pleasant 76 degrees, and that was with the door being opened and closed on move-in day.
