I've used these throughout the house to replace 40-60 watt incandescents. I use these in most places throughout my house, and they do save money. I have not had any break, and they last a very long time, much longer than a regular bulb. This price is very good, and less than my local "wholesale" club. Also, you are doing a little extra to help the environment. Keep in mind that this is a fluorescent bulb and so cannot be put on a dimmer (there are some CFL's that are dimmable, just not this one). I find it takes just a few seconds for the bulb to come to full power in the cold and in the house it comes up like a regular bulb. One last note, the end of the bulb is not as rounded and may not fit in some fixtures. It is not much different, but worth noting for those rare fixtures. The last two are my reason for 4 stars. I would have been happier giving it 4.5 stars, but that isn't possible.Customer Review: GE 60 watt energy smart

Dealer is great...BUT... I hate these bulbs, slow to come to full brightness and very fragile, I broke 2 that were dropped at separate times on a carpet. These are what we are going to have to live with due to the environmental concerns so I guess we will have to make the best of itCustomer Review: Nice, But very expensive.

It used to be that GE was one of the only companies with a CFL that had a nice color. This soft white bulb is very nice in fact, but recently the el cheapo lights at the big box home stores have become just as good, for only a dollar or two per bulb. So... this is a good light but costs what it did 3 years ago, not market value.
