Description of GE SmartWater Replacement Reverse Osmosis Filters (FX12P)
The GE SmartWater replacement reverse osmosis filter set (FX12P) fits the following GE 12 gallon per day reverse osmosis drinking water systems: GE PNRV12Z, GE PNRV12ZBL, GE PNRV12, and GE GXRV10. When installed in a GE GXRV10 or PNRV12, this GE reverse osmosis replacement filter set removes: 99% of Lead, 99.95% of Cysts, 97% of Mercury, 99% of Chemicals/VOCs, 99% of Copper, 97% of Tannins, and Particulates 0.5-1.0 micron. It also reduces Sediment, Rust, Chlorine (Taste and Odor), Nitrate/Nitrite, Sodium, Magnesium, Ammonia, and Arsenic. I am dumb and can't read good; as such I was confused by the RO membrane installation and ran the rig as a pure carbon-filter for about 3 months.
Is this my fault, darn tootn'; But I would have preferred to see instructions that were tailored to a dummy like me.
Another example is the lack of instruction for use of the white tape.
I had no idea what to do with the stuff.. I eventually figured out that unless it is on the curly bit of the plastic pipe things it leaks everywhere!
Now that I know I can say this carbon filter set is great, it made me think it was RO even though I forgot to put the RO filter in!
I love me some clean water, and this sure did fit the bill.
ps
you need a new filter every 1-3 months if you live in a place ware the water smells like eggs and fish.
