Tools and Hardware Reviews of Elgin Travel Alarm ClockCustomer Review: Timex travel alarm clock... Summary: 4 Stars
...sold at Walmart for about nine bucks is identical to this watch except for a more squarish shaped case and snooze button. Funny that they rebadged it as "Elgin" and sell it here, maybe the "Timex" version is a Walmart exclusive?
Anyways, I quite like it...folds up easily, and best of all the alarm starts out gentle then gets more insistent. I was used to a much shriller and louder alarm, on my Casio analog travel clock which I've gotten rid of because of its loud ticking. Am glad that it uses an easily replaceable AAA battery.
My only reservation about this clock is the slider switch for setting the time, alarm time and alarm on/off seems too flimsy...hope it holds up! Also when you press the Snooze/Light button there is a slight humming noise while the light is on...no biggy, just kind of tacky.
Customer Review: Does the job Summary: 4 Stars
I picked up this item for $5.99 with free shipping (Amazon Prime). At this price, I don't really care how great it is; I just want a bedside alarm clock that illuminates. Well, this does the job. The display is large and easy to read, unless you are at too low an angle. This kind of LCD display is only readable at certain angles, but what do you expect for $5.99? The big, blue snooze/light button is easy to find in the dark and does what it's supposed to do. If anything, it's a bit on the bright side when you are half-asleep and your eyes are night-adjusted. It was a breeze to set up; no stupid hoops to jump through, and the buttons are obvious for all but the most tech-challenged. For the price, it's a useful instrument. If you want something fancier and better engineered, go with a $10+ Casio or similar.
Customer Review: Works and is affordable Summary: 4 Stars
I'm studying abroad in France, and needed a very handy, light, alarm clock that worked properly. It arrived in the time, I was told it was going to arrive, and came with easy, straight-forward instructions. At first, I was a little worried because I'm a very heavy sleeper, and need a an alarm clock whose alarm can accommodate that. On a test run, the alarm seemed too weak, however, when I actually set it to wake me up one morning, the alarm worked fine. I woke up. It's been a month now, and it still wakes me up just fine and it shows no sign of breaking. Overall, I'm happy with this alarm clock.
Also, let's not forget, times are rough these days, especially for a student financially. This alarm clock is a cheap, great buy.
Customer Review: Good Value Summary: 4 Stars
For the money this little clock is a pretty good buy. The numbers are large and easy to read, the time and alarm are straightforward and easy to set, the alarm starts out softly and gets louder until you push the snooze or turn it off, and the dial lights up at night nicely when you push the snooze button. It also unfolds to create a stand for the clock. It's compact when folded for travel, but the cover is cheaply made. I'm not sure how well it will hold up under abuse, I would feel compelled to wrap it in a sock or something in a suitcase.
All in all for the money it has everything I need for a travel alarm clock and it keeps good time so far, too.
Customer Review: small & does the job Summary: 4 Stars
This is a great little clock, weighs almost nothing & takes up very little space. The stand on the bottom can fold over to protect the buttons & keep from draining the battery while it is packed. I love the bright blue face, but you won't see it unless you hit the oval button on the front. It stays lit up for 1 second, that's it! I wish the light up feature lasted 5 or 10 seconds instead. Snooze button will give you 4 minutes, that's it. Almost not worth hitting the snooze button for. But it works & the price is right.
