Tools and Hardware Reviews of GenTran 501210 Powerstay 12-Circuit 50 Amp Transfer Switch for up to 12,500-Watt GeneratorsCustomer Review: GenTran Transfer Switch Summary: 5 Stars
Installation was easy (I have an electrical background). The plug should be in the front not on the top, this would allow for a flush mount installation making a much neater installation. I had to remove all of the 240 volt breakers supplied and installed single circuit tandem breakers. This added to the total cost of the installation. My generator cannot run the electric dryer or central A/C unit so I chose to purchase 2-115 volt window units to cool the bedroom and great room. The 16 available circuits will allow approx. 90% of the circuits to be utilized in an emergency. I just finished with a full load test of the installation and all worked well. I marked both plugs (generator and transfer panel) with indexing marks (paint) to allow my wife to place the plug in the correct spot to allow for easy installation. Panel is a little pricey but worth it.
