Tools and Hardware Reviews of Gerber 22-01035 3-Blade Stag Stockman Fine Edge Lock-Back Pocket Knife

Customer Review: High-quality, good value in a 3-blade pocket knife
Summary: 5 Stars

You get good value for the price with this high-quality, three-blade pocket knife. Having lost my single-blade pocket knife, I jumped on this great Amazon deal.

Features I like:

* The Sheep Foot and Spey blades are sturdy for their size and close firmly;

* The longest blade (2.75") comes with a locking mechanism;

* The knife features a genuine stag handle (that provides a textured grip) and filigree etched bolsters.

The knife is longer (6.13") and heavier (2.6 ounces) than my single-blade Old Timer but the knife still fits in the coin pocket of my Levi 501 jeans.

Rating: Five stars.

If you prefer a smaller pocket knife, I recommend my last pocket knife Schrade 3OTB Old Timer Buffalo Horn Bear Head, which is also available on Amazon. The Old Timer features a 2.2-inch stainless steel blade (3" closed) and weighs 1.5 ounces. It has Buffalo Horn handles with nickel silver bolsters and Old Timer inlay shield.

Customer Review: Must of got a bad one.Ken in Seattle
Summary: 5 Stars

I read all the reviews and jumped on the wagon as it sounded perfect. I bought it at Amazon which I like to order from and trust.Just got it today dec.,23,09. I agree ,it is a very good knife.But ,the workmanship on this one is very,very bad on the handles. The stag handles are gapped,loose,and (1)rivit is not flush and very pronounced .The handle is cracked at this rivit location. Also,the handles are not fared with the bolsters. In spite of what I have said about the knife I still feel it is a very good knife and give it a four star rating only because of the the finish work on the handles.I will return this for a replacement knowing these things do happen.Knowing also that the knife itself rates a five star,as it is a strong well made,and a very good looking 1/5/10 follow up on my review. I just rec. my replacement knife and am very happy with the knife and with amazon .I rec. my knife with no charge,and outstanding service.Five stars to both amazon and the knife.

Customer Review: Tiny for a Stockman BUT high quality!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This knife is the traditional "Stockman" configuration of the three blades. The only possible downside is the small size. This knife is of very high quality construction. Everything about it is craftsmanship! The fit of the genuine stag scales is wonderful! No gaps! The polish is perfect! The hollow ground blades are razor sharp out of the box. The lazer etching on the bolsters is high quality, sharp, relief and very attractive besides.

This knife is wonderful if you want a smaller pocket knife for those "just in case" situations or as a quality gift to a youngster for his/her first knife. This knife is suitable for a collector given the quality and the use of genuine stag on the scales. At the sale price offered (about $12.00) this item is a steal!!!

Customer Review: Very pleasantly surprised

I lost my Buck Stockman pocket knife. It is no longer made so I despaired of replacing it. After some fairly extensive searching I bought this one. The price made me worry about the quality but when I received it all concerns vanished.

It isn't perfect, the bolster "snags" a little bit, but overall it is much nicer than the price would indicate (compared with other brand's Stockmans). The blades are very well made, almost a mirror finish - the grinding marks are very fine and not intrusive.

Note that this knife is a bit wider than many. The stag portion extends a little wider than my previous knife. This, of course, is Yin-and-Yang. It's bulky in a pocket but it's very easy to use and grip.

Customer Review: Legendary blade at a comfortable price
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this legendary Gerber 3-blade stockman pocket knife because of it's lockback main blade and it's "Old school" look. It's a real beauty all right with it's filigree etched bolsters and real stag horn handle grips. Almost too nice for everyday use, but with 3 very sharp and sturdy blades I found it to be quite suitable for carving and scraping which is what I mostly use a pocket knife for. This one's a keeper, and because of it's heirloom quality, I intend to pass it on to my son one day.
