Tools and Hardware Reviews of Gerber 22-01629 LMF II Black Infantry Knife with 4.8-Inch BladeCustomer Review: Super knife, best knife Summary: 5 Stars
I've read reviews about this knife before purchasing it, and the negative ones were complaining about the bulkiness and weight of the knife. IT"S AN INFANTRY SURVIVAL KNIFE, NOT A POCKET KNIFE.
The knife IT"S NOT HEAVY...the weight is perfect, the strap and sheath are comfortable over long pants (who goes in the woods in shorts, shouldn't be in the woods in the first place:)
It's the best knife I bought..and compared to $99.00 at Cabela's this knife is a steal for approx 65-70 bucks.
Love it, love it, love it
Customer Review: Great knife set - sheath can be fixed Summary: 5 Stars
This is a very solid, functional knife that will perform well in a variety of situations. I use mine regularly on hikes and keep it in the glovebox for emergency use. Many people have commented on the difficulty of drawing this knife from its' sheath, which was a problem for me at first. I solved this minor issue by applying Armor All to the plastic lip of the sheath. This slick covering has definitely improved ease of use and functionality, while the sheath still retains the knife with no risk of slippage. Overall, a great, quality product.
Customer Review: Exactly what I wanted Summary: 5 Stars
I did a lot of research before ordering and couldn't be happier now that I have it in-hand. The description doesn't do the quality of this knife justice. The grip is unlike any other and feels like it is super glued to your hand. As others have mentioned, the length of the straight part of the blade is pretty good for most tasks and the weight should help accomplish most anything in the wild. I can't wait to field test it soon. Anyone giving less than 3 stars on this knife probably has no business owning one in the first place.
Customer Review: strong, sturdy, great value Summary: 5 Stars
i use my LMF II primarily for hiking and camping purposes, and it works very well for my needs. previously, i used a small pocket knife for carving and whittling and a bulky hatchet for serious cutting, but this knife allows me to combine the two into a single blade for better efficiency. the blade keeps its edge very well due to the wide angle, and the steel quality is high for the price. the built in sharpener in the sheath is very convenient in the wilderness. all in all, this knife is a great value.
Customer Review: Indestructible! Summary: 5 Stars
If you are looking for a lightweight backpacking knife, this is probably a little too heavy for you (I would suggest a SOG Seal Pup). But if you are looking for a solidly constructed knife that maintains its edge and is nearly indestructible, then you can't go wrong with this knife. I've used it as a spear head, hammer, banged rocks on the blade to cut wood, and been generally pretty abusive to it without any noticeable effect. When weight is not an issue, this knife will always be my first choice.
