Customer Review: Axe is light but.....

I bought this axe for general car camping. The axe is very light, especially in the handle. The composite material seems very strong and unbreakable. The axe performs very well and a strong stroke will drive through a piece of wood to make kindling. However I do have an issue with the axe. The axe has a head of normal width but the length isn't as long as your common axe. What that means is if you wedge it onto a piece of wood and try to lift the piece to strike the ground, the wood falls off the axe every time. This forces you to use it as a wedge and strike it with another piece of wood. Or strike it as hard as you can and hope you don't hit any rocks at the end of the stroke.
Otherwise the axe is well constructed and great as can be expected from any gerber product.
