These type of bulbs are great, but most of them owe some of their "shelf-life" to the mercury additive which is why you may have to follow disposal/recycling requirements in your community. Unless the bulb breaks, there shouldn't be a concern about the mercury portion of the bulb. I just thought it was a good idea to be fully informed. I saw a CNN story on it, and didn't believe it until I read the packaging - sure enough, its mentioned. I don't know if Globe's bulbs contain mercury or not, but as a consumer, you may want to check this out.Customer Review: Great bulb, just check where you want to use it

I've been using this bulb for months now and it works like a charm. It's bright, white and silent. The only thing to keep an eye out for, as others have mentioned, is it's size. It hasn't been a problem in my case; just make sure that where you want to use it has plenty of room for the bulb.
