Tools and Hardware Reviews of Globe 48526 23-Watt Mini Compact Fluorescent Spiral Bulb (100-Watt Incandescent Equivalent), Soft White, 4 PackCustomer Review: Not exactly mini compact Summary: 4 Stars
Its larger than a regular lightbulb, so I wouldn't call it mini compact. Brighter than a comparable 100 watt bulb, but gives off a very slight yellow color.
Customer Review: Arrived in Pieces Summary: 3 Stars
This is the first item in over 100 that I have had to return from Amazon. I received a package of 4 and the 2 bulbs facing the outer sides of the package were broken. You could hear the glass rattling before opening the package.
I've ordered a lot of small electronic gizmos and they tend to be packaged in air-filled plastic. These glass bulbs were sliding around in the package and only had a small piece of brown paper outside the OEM container which of course did not do the job of absorbing handling shock.
I got a package of 8 Globe 13W bulbs (60W equivalent) and they work great and were securely packaged. These bulbs would have been great too if whomever packaged them had been a bit more careful with a fragile shipment.
Customer Review: Work but aren't ideal Summary: 3 Stars
I ordered these bulbs because I wanted to replace the bulbs in my overhead lights fixtures (which take little bulbs with regular-sized bases). The first thing I noticed is that despite being "mini" these bulbs are actually pretty large -- at least twice, if not three times, the size of chandelier bulbs. Unlike the other compact fluorescent light bulbs I own (I think I have the Sylvania brand), these ones emit a faint hum and take a second to turn on. They are also not as bright as the other "100 Watt equivalent" bulbs I own, which also take 23W.
On the positive side, they DO work (I don't know about the comparable lifespan), and they're cheaper than the Sylvania brand (I pay $5 each at the grocery store).
Customer Review: Huge Summary: 3 Stars
I bought these bulbs to use in hanging pendant lights. The CFLs I had in the pendants were too long and hung out the bottom - just looked crappy. So I ordered these 'mini' lamps. Ha! Shame on me for believing 'mini' meant smaller. Not quite sure what Globe considers "mini" but these things are huge. They hung out of the pendant light further than the originals. I'll keep them because I can use them for some other fixtures. I ended up buying CFLs at Target - I think they're GE - much shorter and the pendants look much better.
Customer Review: Just OK Summary: 3 Stars
These work pretty well, but they are MASSIVE. They're probably an inch and a half longer than a regular lightbulb and thicker as well.
Depending on what you're going to use these for, you need to keep their size in mind. If you are wanting to replace regular bulbs in an enclosed fixture with a globe or dome, for example, be sure there is plenty of space in there before you buy these.
