Tools and Hardware Reviews of Globe 5203801 Energy Saving Desk Lamp, Metallic SilverCustomer Review: Desk Lamp Summary: 4 Stars
Decent desk lamp. I wish it was a little bit brighter sometimes, but it works well other than that. I'm assuming it's the energy saving bulb that comes with it that is causing it to be dimmer than other lamps. Nice design and functionality though.
Customer Review: Just ok. Summary: 4 Stars
You get what you pay for. This lamp is alright, a little dim, but it works well for me. I am a little concerned about replacing the bulb when it burns out. It seems to require a special brand sold by the manufacturer.
Customer Review: It is Okay Summary: 4 Stars
I love its compact and simple design. This desk lamp is useful to read books.
The included bulb is a bit dark even though it may save energy and cost.
Customer Review: energy-saver lamp Summary: 4 Stars
It's much better than the goose-neck lamp it replaced! Hope that when the bulb blows (~ 6 years), they'll still be making those type bulbs. Thanks!
Customer Review: Hard to find bulb Summary: 3 Stars
The lamp works well enough and seems sturdy. My issue is the bulb is not a standard light bulb which I thought it was when I purchased it. I use 13 watt cfls in all my lights and when I saw this included a 13 watt cfl, I stopped reading the description.
Had I read on, I would have learned that the bulb is not a standard cfl, but has a GU24 base which is hard to find and expensive.
The only place I seem to be able to find them is Amazon and a few other online retailers, and they are around $8.00 per bulb. Half the price of the lamp. I can buy 8 packs of standard 13 watt cfls from amazon for $10.00, so this seems really expensive to me...
This bulb isn't going to last the rated 7 years either, none of them do. When it burns out, I'll remove the socket and replace it with a standard screw socket so I don't end up throwing the lamp away.
