Customer Review: High Failure Rate for This Bulb and Amazon

Initially, I bought an 8-pack of these bulbs. They seemed ideal--small with very bright, white light. But after a few minutes of use, one began to blink and then went out for good. I e-mailed Amazon and asked for a replacement or refund for one bulb. The reply was quick but not not much help. They would send a new set. But I had to return not just the bad bulb, but all 8. If I did not return the whole set within 30 days, I would be charged with the second set; i.e., no refund for the bad bulb. Why should I remove 7 working bulbs, find packing material, repack them, download a shipping label, and take all this to the post office or a shipper, just because Amazon sent me a defective product? Since I could use more of the bulbs, I decided to accept the new shipment without returning the first one; i.e., no refund for the bad bulb. Then, a second bulb failed. Now I am angry. Over the years, I have bought many hundreds--maybe thousands--of dollars of products of all kinds from Amazon, from electronics to clothes to food. Until now, I have never had to ask for a refund or replacement. Overall, they have a great, super-convenient business model. But good service for customers with a problem seems to be not part of the model. I will no be longer an Amazon customer.Customer Review: You will be happier with the ULTRA mini

You will be happier with the ULTRA mini. Trust me. Most lamps that use 60 watts incandescent bulbs are smaller and/or have less shade space. And the "minis" ain't all that mini - I have had to use the ultra-minis on lamps that used to use 3-ways. And the soft white ultra minis I have bought are brighter than the incandescent equivalent (closer to 75 watt).
I "know" from compact fluorescents as we 95% converted 6 months ago (only one incandescent left). You'll get used to them in a very short time.
Ultra minis were selling on Amazon for a LOT less than this (price is total rip-off).

Compact flourescent bulbs do no such thing. They contain mercury and that's why they have to be disposed of properly - they contain "hazardous" materials. Please do not just throw these out in your trash. The mercury gets in the ground water and is highly toxic for all living things. Pregnant women are particularly susceptible. Try to picture millions of them sitting in landfills. There needs to be a better alternative to incandescents and compact flourescents. I'm surprised they are even legal.

So far, I'm using 4 of 8 of these in a light fixture, and one flickered when the light was turned on the first time it was used. This bulb burned out after 3 days of use, approximately 10 hours of usage at the most. Low quality bulbs, light is also too yellowish for my liking. The ones that do work are nice and bright though.
Hopefully the rest last longer than a few hours.

With my first N:Vision bulb, it started blinking after it was on between 6 and 12 hours. I returned it to Home Depot for an exchange and the same thing happened. I tried two fixtures with no luck.
When it blinks, I can turn the lamp off, then on and the blinking stops temporarily.
N:VISION clearly has a quality problem.
