Customer Review: Excellent Desk Lamp

I purchased this desk lamp because my old drafting table fluorescent lamp had finally died. This lamp is very reasonably priced, compared to many others similar desk lamps that cost a lot more. The light color is what I call "cool white" and is ideal for review of fine detail drawings, etc.
When I first plugged in the lamp it came on for a second or so, then went dead (ballast ?). I returned the lamp to amazon.com for an exchange and was really impressed with their on-line return system (even lets you print out pre-paid shipping labels !). They promptly shipped me a replacement lamp that has worked fine so far.
The only concern I have is that the fluorescent light tube is a special design that is not available from any hardware store; you will have to order it from the lamp manufacturer.

Overall, this lamp was a good buy. It provides good lighting and it was relatively cheap compared to Verilux. However, 5 minutes after I turn it on, it makes this sound as if a rubber band had hit it. I think it might be the metal prongs that are supposed to hold the bulb in place. The prongs are really poorly made and don't fit the bulb so if you shove it into place, it'll fit somewhat sideways. I'm guessing after I turn it on, the bulb somehow pops out of the prongs, but it doesn't fall out of the lamp so it's not a big problem.Customer Review: Nice lamp for a study table/small room!

Obviously it is a table lamp, so not expected to give lot of light for the entire room!
Pros: Nice light (don't know if this is really full spectrum or not, but better than most fluorescent lamps; I can't see any flicker at all with this light.

Cons: a little on the cheap side (looks/construction) but Ok for a student table/dorm use.
In all, gives a nice light that you can use for reading for hours witout eye strain.

Once you use this product you can't study or read with the normal desk lamps. The product looks "cheap" but it works great
Pros: Nice and bright! Plus, the light doesn't flicker and doesn't reflect off glossy paper.
Con: The goose neck design that allows you to move the lamp head around isn't designed very well. It doesn't conform to the position you want that easily and that's why i gave it a 4 star.

I have this light on my desk where I write all sorts of papers and do a lot of reading from glossy-paged text books and ink jet printed pages. The light it produces is wonderful. It's easy on the eyes and the illumination is near perfect with minimal glare. The only downside is that it's not very aesthetically pleasing. But if you're looking for function over form, this is the light for you.
