This is just what I needed, now that hurricane season is upon us!
Opened packaged, plugged it in. Seems to be made of sturdy plastic. There are three positions (flashlight, nightlight and off positions). I left mine on nightlight.
There is a red light (charging light) in front and two white lights, that stay on constantly. Not a problem here. When the room is dark, the nightlight comes on. The light is bright enough that you can see where you are going. This may be a problem for some that likes their rooms dark at night.
I unplugged one this morning at 6 am, (to see how long it lasts). It is almost 8 pm now and it's still as bright as when I unplugged it. 14 hours, WOW!
I ordered 2, and am now ready to order 3 more. I highly recommend this light.
The only down side is you cannot replace the batteries!

Ok, so it's just a night light. But it's a REALLY COOL NIGHTLIGHT.
The LEDs are bright and progressively dim or brighten depending on light conditions. It seems that you can use this in two night light modes: one with the two "night light" LEDs that provide a difuse light; and the other in the "flashlight" mode. The "flashlight" mode bathes the wall and ceiling above the electrical outlet with light, similar to that of a wall sconce. The product doesn't say anything about using it in this mode, but it works.
Oh, the best part: you get excellent light output with nearly zero electricy usage. No guilt about these lights being on all night.

This little (inexpensive) item does a lot. First of all it is a rechargable LED flashlight you leave hanging in an outlet so it is always charged. It is an "ok" flashlight.
If you slide the switch to nightlight, it is an automatic nightlight (comes on when the room is dark). In this mode the light will also come on when the power goes out. In a blackout your nightlights will automatically kick on.
This one is better than the nearly identical timex model. The nightlight on this brand is white, instead of amber. Also, the exterior is more plain and looks better on the wall.
Tough to beat this thing for $12.

I have 4 of these 3 in 1 Nightlight LED flashlight/emergency backup lights and am so grateful to GreenLite for a superior product! Our power went out during the tornado here in Woodstock,GA on May 20,2008 at 6:30pmEDT and the lights--all 4--stayed on the entire 18 hours until power was restored the next afternoon at 12:30pm! My young sons' slept comfortably with their nightlights and we were able to move safely throughout our home! I bought this item when we had a blackout and my 2 year old woke in the middle of the night and was screaming because his nightlight obviously wasn't working. I got online and did a search for a battery back up nightlight and am really happy with this purchase. The nightlight is on the weak side...not nearly as bright as his original one,however, it does the trick. I keep it on the auto on/off setting to come on at night and off in the morning. It also has a mini flashlight feature that will probably also come in handy in the event of blackouts. I would buy again.
