Mouse & Chipmunk Trap HT-2 If you have chipmunks in your attic or mice in your basement this is the low cost live catch trap for you. Try our Nutter Butter bait to increase your catch rate. You can eliminate a mouse infestation problem and get rid of chipmunks with this trap. It is extremely easy to use. The metal trip pan is so sensitive that when even a small mouse steps on it the door will drop and trap the mouse. The trap measures 10 1/2" long by 5 1/2" wide by 4 1/2" high. The bait is placed at the back of the trap behind the pan. When the rodent steps on the pan attempting to reach the bait, the door closes and a steel bar locks it in place. The trap is easily opened to release the rodent. Use this trap for mice and chipmunks. How to get rid of mice Discovering evidence that a mouse has invaded your home can be quite upsetting. Mice are mostly nocturnal, so they are not likely to be seen unless the infestation is severe. Mice often leave behind droppings in kitchen cabinets, pantries, drawers, and any other place they may have gone in search of food. Customer Review: I would have wasted less time, energy and frustration if I'd just bought Happy Trap first.

When I opened a seldom used cupboard and discovered mouse "evidence" I panicked. I knew this day would come. The day when I would have to decide, me or the mouse? And I knew if it meant that I would have to harm a cute creature in any way, the mouse was going to win. I was devastated.
I immediately researched humane traps on Amazon. The Happy Trap caught my eye, but I was a cheapskate and I went with a less expensive, moderately rated trap first. It was the Kness Trip-Trap, a small, plastic tunnel the mouse is meant to enter and upon reaching the end the tunnel tips and a door snaps shut behind him. I was skeptical that there would be much "snap" to the plastic door, but who knows? My dog found it before the mouse did and that was the end of that. The plastic was no match for her tiny chihuahua teeth. Five bucks down the drain.
So I took a trip to the department store and looked at my options there. I settled on a Victor Poison Free Mouse Trap and a 3 pack of Bell & Howell Sonic Pest Repellent. I'd read reviews of the Sonic Repellents. Some people swore by them, some people called them garbage. I'll team up with the latter. Fifteen more dollars down the drain, plus three sets of annoying clicks ringing through my one bedroom apartment. Ugh. However, he Victor Poison Free Mouse Trap actually kind of worked.
I caught a couple of rookies, babies really, without any harm to them. The whole time I had the trap set I checked it religiously; I'd read that the holes in the trap did not provide enough air and people were finding dead mice inside. The other problem was the clean-up. A panicked mouse is a messy mouse. Momma mouse must have smelled trouble, because I could never coax her to climb inside. Ten bucks, okay, I'll call it five, flushed.
She was starting to get brave. She had an obsession with digging in my plants (for water?) and liked to taunt me by running from the kitchen to a closet in my living room in plain sight. She was leaving traces. lots and lots of traces, of herself everywhere. It was disgusting and embarrassing.
So I went to the home improvement store and looked at the "less friendly" options. I picked each up with a shaky hand. Nothing on the packages indicated how quickly they worked, how much the little critter would suffer. My eyes welled with tears and I left empty handed.
The Happy Trap was my last hope.
It's heavy duty, completely chihuahua teeth-proof. It's also completely open. No threat of the mouse suffocating, and newspaper under the trap eliminates the need for clean up. She evaded me the first night and was somehow able to munch on most of the treats on the ramp without setting off the trap. She was very tiny and there is enough room for her to maneuver around the ramp. The following night I made sure to center a treat on the center of the ramp and when I checked it next, there she was! Twenty three bucks, well spent!
Don't throw your money away, just buy this trap already!
