I love this mug!
I first had a regular OXO that has the similar rubber lid w/ the button press.. good cheap mug...but you can't brew anything in that and it's not terribly good at keeping things hot.
Then I got the Bodum french-press travel mug. Terrible mug, it leaks like crazy (even side to side action) and the design isn't so great if you want to brew anything as it keeps the stuff at the bottom and you can't dump it.. creating a bitter drink. The only thing good about the mug is that it is double-walled. That's it.
But if you are ready for the next level, need something that will keep your drink HOT for a LONG time and you love to brew copious amounts of tea then this is IT!
It keeps things hot so well that I burned my tongue a few times the first week I was using it. So I recommend heating your water (if you are using it for tea) to just short of a rolling boil. I use an electric tea kettle at work so I just wait for it to get 'steamy' and that's hot enough for me.
If you do put boiling water in there, keep the lid off and let it sit for a good 15-20min (yeah it takes that long to cool down and by 'cool down' i mean you can actually sip it without pain).
--Cleaning is a snap
--Brewing is SO easy, just take that basket out, dump the leaves and snap it back in!
--This thing does NOT leak! Even w/ the extra cap it doesn't but it's there as a back-up I believe. I shook it upside down and nothing! Not a drip!
--Fits in a car cup holder! (Although my Subaru's holder is shallow so it kind of falls to the side when I take turns)
Only thing that happened was I pricked my finger on the mesh basket. There was a stray wire sticking out. Just a fluke I suppose.
Anyway, I love it! GET IT!
