Tools and Hardware Reviews of Bionaire BH3955-U Silent Micathermic Heater with Digital ThermostatCustomer Review: Silent heater with digital thermostat Summary: 5 Stars
I needed a heater for our son's room which can get pretty cold in early hours in the morning (central heat is uneven). I have a BH3950-U that uses the dial controls, which is not precise enough to set temperature. So I bought this one which has down to 1 F degree temperature control and actually much cheaper ($40 vs $89 is of writing)
Besides the digital controls, it looks exactly like the 3950. I also needed to leave it in the backyard on HI setting for a couple hours to dissipate the initial plastic/whatever smell/vapor. The big plus for us is that it heats completely silently and effectively by convection. The switch click sound (when it's in auto mode) also seems quieter than my previous one. The red digital temperature display is fairly large and not harsh to look at during the night (similar to those alarm radios.) The auto temperature mode has a range of about 2-3 F degrees, i.e., even if the displayed temperature is below the number you set, it will not turn on until it's about 2-3 F degrees below the set level. It seems to turn off immediately once it reaches the set temperature though.
Now I can set the central heat lower to avoid wasting too much heat on living/family/play rooms and kitchen during the night.
Anyway, I found it to be much better than the loud (with fans) ceramic heaters I've owned before.
